EDF Standard Variable Calc (when will suppliers update their SVTs?)
Hi All, I don't believe the EDF standard variable that is in this screen shot attached. But to be sure, please could I ask for some help to verify my maths. They are saying that when my tariff expires on (31st March 2022) on the 1st April I will be moved to a standard variable rate which is only about 35% more than what I…

My Tariff Ends In Mar 22' And The Fixed Tariff Options Are Horrendous
Hi all, I am with EDF and was wondering if anyone could advise me with my gas and electric tariff. My current tariff is £86.50pm and I'm in credit. My fixed tariff options look horrendous due to the energy crisis. The fixed tariff options are priced between £239pm - £218pm and my standard variable option is £115pm. Does…

Octopus Tariff Help
Hi all, With all this energy crisis talk, I fixed my rate with Octopus mid January. The tariff I got was the below: Loyal Octopus 12M Fixed December 2021 v3 27.51p/kWh 23.76p/day I thought I was doing the right thing due to suggestion of octopus employee and also due to the cap in April. Unfortunately I was naive to not…

Eon dispute
I have a disputed bill with eon and I am working with citizens advice on this, they have advised me to switch and I was thinking of fixing with Sainsbury's, I know it's not a good time to switch but I'm on a variable rate and the new rate would be 13p more a kWh and 14p a day standing if I fix for two years. This seems a…

Prepayment electric meters
Hello everyone, I read recently a bit of advice about putting as much money on your prepayment electric meter to avoid the rising cost come the end of March. Does anyone know if this is true?

New property - which energy supplier to use?
Hi all, Ive just bought a new property and the supplier is Eon. Ive searched online including MSE for advice on the best energy supplier. However all advice indicates staying with current supplier. Price is the most important factor for me, not a big name, and i know Eon isnt the cheapest out there. But who do I switch to…

EDF says they can’t fit smart meter
I was moved to EDF from Utility Point and plan to get a battery storage. To make the most of this I need a smart meter so I can go onto more flexible tariffs. But EDF say I can’t have one yet. I’ve asked them to do a WAN test and they say they have and I don’t have a signal, I asked if they visited the location they said…

Wanting to understand this energy lark before the end of Feb.
Hopefully someone will have the patience to have a 'sit down' with me on it as my current deal is up at the end of the month. Shell Energy February 2022 v5 Direct Debit ebill (Fixed) Now generally what I do is when a deal ends I just sign up to one of/the cheapest fixed deal at that moment in time but all I'm seeing in the…

EON Next fix or not
Hi, I’ve been offered a fix now for when my cheap deal ends on 30/3/22 (Which is 3.09p gas + 7.35p/day and 18p electric + 7.35p/ day) I’ll move to the price cap if I do nothing, but the new fix is pretty much the same price as the cap, or a tad cheaper) (6.46p gas + 42p/day and 26.5p elec +. 42p/day) The are no early…

Electricity and gas standing charges - petition
I feel that standing charges are regressive and the calculation is opaque. I would like to see standing charges removed and added to the per kWh charge. This should be based on total cost divided by total kWh consumed to give a cost per kWh. Until 2013 I didn’t pay any standing charges and my energy costs were £200 pa. Now…

Renewable only tariffs
Surely green tariffs using only renewables should not be effected by gas price rises? I only use electricity and have a ground source heat pump. I have a 24 month fixed tariff until 10/23 with Octopus of 24.45 kWh and 24.86 per day and use about 7600 kw per year. Will I pay more from April? And how do renewables fit in?

Chasing
I’m being chased by an agency for an apparent outstanding debt (£400) between 2012-2016 when I was financially cutoff from my (abusive)marriage, I had no income and have a final bill for both energies which were amalgamated and paid for in full, which I have provided to the agency who are still pursuing this, where do I…

Smart meters
Forty years ago I took part in the trial for genuinely smart meters C.A.L.M.U. [CREDIT AND LOAD MANAGEMENT] They did everything the present meters do plus they allowed users to pay different rates at several different times of the day [Reflecting the generating cost and demand] The trial was a success and we were told…

unreal tarrifs
I am in the process of writing a complaint to Ofgem but wanted to share it on here. Shell Energy took over my energy when Green folded. I live in a 2 up 2 down terrace in a small village between south and west yorkshire and even working from home for 3 years i have never seen a bill like the one from Shell. There "flexible…

Price Cap - Standing charge increases
According to your estimates of the new price cap rates for 01 April 22, the electricity standing charge goes up from 24.88 p/day to 45.34 p/day. This is a massive 82% increase. How can this be justified when the gas standing charge increase is around 4%?

Gas and electric tariff
My current tariff for combined gas and electric runs out at end of this month. Is it worth switching onto new tariff or sticking to variable tariff?
