EON Next fix or not
Hi, I’ve been offered a fix now for when my cheap deal ends on 30/3/22
(Which is 3.09p gas + 7.35p/day and 18p electric + 7.35p/ day)
I’ll move to the price cap if I do nothing, but the new fix is pretty much the same price as the cap, or a tad cheaper)
(6.46p gas + 42p/day and 26.5p elec +. 42p/day)
The are no early cancellation fees
We use approx 3700 kWh elec and 9000 kWh gas
I’m not sure how I can lose if I fix, if prices cap goes up in October 22 by 20%, then I’ll win for the 6 months 10/22 to 04/23
If it comes down, I can just switch to something cheaper
… or am I missing something
David

On the face of it, that fix is definitely worth having.
- April cap -£1980/yr
- The fix - £1870/yr
... a £110/yr saving, and with no exit fees so you can switch at no cost if prices fall. How long is the fix for? Can you tell us the supplier and the tariff name?N. Hampshire, he/him. Hi, yes sorry it’s 12 months and called Next Online v10
The cost personalised to me was shown as £1747, I was out with my usage, last 12 month was 6664kwh -G and 3800kwh E
It’ll cost me £50 or so in extra costs by switching 6 weeks early out of my very cheap current tariff. If I ring them they might agree to move me on 1/4/22.. who knows
They also offered Next 2 year v17, but at £2100 (33p E and 8.9p G … Eek), I prob won’t go for that

Next Online V10 is a good tariff by current standards. A number of MSE forumites have been offered it and they've all stood to save money vs. the April cap.

Thanks for the advice, I’ve done it.The biggest bonus is they aren’t switching me over until the day after my current deal ends which is 1st April
So I won’t need to pay more than I need to for these last 6 weeks
Sort of ‘Happy days’ if you know what I mean
I hope this tariff is available to non customers but I fear not, is seems a very sensible deal in this current climate

I looked at the fixed deal that Eon Next is offering me. It is similar to what their SVT will be from April but they would switch me immediately as I am already on their SVT. That means I would have to pay more for the high consumption months of February and March and would not see any real benefit until next winter, if prices by then are higher than they become in April. I would certainly sign-up myself if I could delay the switch until 1st April!Pyrodave said:Thanks for the advice, I’ve done it.The biggest bonus is they aren’t switching me over until the day after my current deal ends which is 1st April

Yes, they wouldn't let me delay it until 1st April either, as I'm on the SVT as a result of the Symbio SOLR deal.
I've still gone for it though, as I reckon it will still save me money on my 8000kWh annual consumption. I don't have gas.0 -
Just to chip in... I'm on Next Flex (SVT) after being transferred from Symbio. I spoke to them on the phone and asked to be transferred to Next Online V10. I also asked if this can take effect on the 1st April and remain on Next Flex for the time being and they said yes. It's now showing on my online account that Next Online V10 starts on the 1st April.Mortgage Started: £131,500 (June 2010)
Mortgage Paid Off: £33,000 (25.1%)
Mortgage Remaining: £98,5003 -
Thank you denial2010. I am on the EON next SVT at present and have been waiting a bit longer to switch to Next Online V10. I have now phoned them and they have signed me up to start on 01 Apr 22 so I don't miss out on the next 6 weeks of cheaper prices on the SVT. I can also switch out if things change again at no cost. This is also showing on my on-line account immediately and I have been promised an e-mail.
This has made me slightly happier (just need to get used to the DD going up by £70 a month in April - ouch!!). Now full steam ahead with energy saving measures for next winter.....0 -
All
I’m just wondering what’s in it for Eon with this tariff, there’s as good chance they’ll lose out with us all come October when the cap is reviewed
We will all bail out of it within weeks, when or if by some miracle the prices start to fall before April 2023
