Gas and electric tariff

My current tariff for combined gas and electric runs out at end of this month. Is it worth switching onto new tariff or sticking to variable tariff?

Impossible to answer without knowing your estimated annual usage, which fixed tariffs you are being offered, and the kWh/standing charge amounts for those options...

    You need to tell us
your annual gas consumption in kWh
    electricity consumption in kWh

and what you have been offered

    Gas standing charge
    Gas price per kWh

    Electricity standing charge
    Electricity price per kWh

The SP M1 tariff is about 10p per kWh gas, 36p electric, and a standing charge of around 26p a day for each. It saves around 20p a day on the standing charge, and over charges about 8p on electric and 3p on gas.

Unless you use a very small amount of energy, the April energy cap is  lower than what you would be paying.

No-one knows what will happen in October though.....

How is it 26p and 36p when the sp quote says All unit rate 36.519p

You've quoted your unit rate, 36.519p/kWh, which is "about 36p" as facade said.
What you haven't quoted is the daily standing charge. Facade thinks it will be around 26p/day.
You also haven't given us any information at all regarding the gas tariff you've been offered, which facade thinks will be around 10p/kWh and 26p/day.
Please can you give full details of the tariff Scottish Power have offered, in the same way as you've given us full details for your existing tariff.

I googled "Fixed Price May 2023 M1", which came out as SP, and the rate on myutilitygenius (I'm not getting a quote off SP) was

This would differ slightly in different regions.

Have they really offered zero standing charge, 36.519p per kWh gas and 36.519p per kWh electricity in writing?
It would be an awful deal unless you use less than 3 kWh of gas a day.

My guess is that "all unit rate" is to show that it isn't a dual-rate E7-type tariff.

Confusing as in isolation it suggests all units, no matter which energy, are the same price, which I think is what the OP has assumed.

Are any of the tariffs on this page signing up too as my current tariff is due to end so thinking of not signing up to a tariff?
