Exclusive tariffs
Hi all I have seen a few mentions of people getting exclusive tariffs lately. I thought this wasn’t allowed or has that changed?

Hilariously bad energy advice from Checkatrade
According to Checkatrade the cost of charging a Night Storage Heater could be less than a penny per night... That 's impossible, even with E7 at the 5p or 6p per kWh rates that they think are available. They've never heard of modern High Heat Retention NSHs with dual E7 and 24h supplies, only the obsolete plain Box of…

Energy Credit gone missing (Green/Neon Reef/Shell/British Gas)
Hello I am wondering what to do. I was originally with Green Energy and enacted a switch to Neon Reef before all the news came out about Green. The Green Energy Switch completed just before they went bust. In December I received my final statement from Green Energy I was in credit and they told me to speak to Shell who…

British Gas saying I owe them a year after moving
I moved from British Gas last May to Igloo. Transfer went smoothly and all was well, or so I thought. I even got a credit from British Gas at the end of May as my account was in credit when I switched. A few weeks back British Gas sent me a Final Bill saying I owed them £430! As it's been nearly a year since I moved and…

Economy7 Meter Problem
Hi, I'm hoping someone can help. I only have Electric, no Gas, and the flat is heated by one extremely large storage heater, it has 2 thermostats (one to control the heater itself, and another room thermostat that controls the blower), there is NO timer. When I moved in the property in 2018 the heater was controlled by the…

Avro to Symbio to EON.Next
I switched from Avro to Symbio about a year ago. There was a dispute between them over closing/opening readings. I have a balance owed to Avro of £181 based on them overstating the closing readings. I had to make a complaint to the regulator over Symbio's lack of pprogressing the dispute. In the end the opening readings…

ScottishPowerwill not send me details of how to move to capped standard variable tariff in March?
We are on a fixed rate tariff with SP that is due to end in March, when that ends will we automatically go onto the capped standard variable tariff or can they switch us to one of their fixed rate tariffs? I contacted SP and asked the question and all they did was send me a link to a number of fixed rate tariffs that range…

Is there a gas safe person please?
I'm simply interested in the truth from someone without a vested interest that is in a position to know. Last October my landlords called Orbit arranged for a new boiler to be installed which is 'most kind' Now going on mid Feb, I am expected to believe that I need a gas safety check. I'm advised by experienced sorts here…

British Gas denying responsibility for my Neon Reef credit because I've switched supplier
In a rather alarming twist to my energy saga, British Gas have claimed that they won't be crediting my account with the money Neon Reef owed me because they are not my supplier any more. They seem to think that Octopus (my new supplier) will somehow miraculously pick up the credit and add it to my account with them. This…

BRITISH GAS AND THE ENERGY OMBUDSMAN
Hi I need some help. In Feb 2020 I took a British Gas complaint to the Energy Ombudsman. A decision was reached by the Energy Ombudsman and I was offered a solution. I accepted. In Feb 2022 I have learnt the British Gas did not implement the agreed decision. BG have told me the EO case is out of time now, we need to draw a…

Failed Suppliers - aren't they liable in contract for the price fixed and owe compensation?
Hi, Typical scenario these days is that: 1. You are on a fixed price tariff with some months remaining. That is the contract is very valuable to you as you have locked a price which is well below the price you could obtain on a new contract elsewhere currently, 2. They go bust an expect that by doing so their liability to…

Core group warm home discount
I am hoping somebody might know how you get the warm home discount for 2020/21, if you switched energy companies a few days before your old supplier went bust. I'm part of the core group.

replace electric heating & water system
The electric heating (night storage heaters) & water system in my house is very very old so isn't efficient at all. (there's no gas supply). I'm thinking a whole new system would be a good idea but I have no idea where to start. Has anyone else done this recently, & do you have any advice? Thanks - D

Octopus Energy fixed rate deal - is it worth it?
Hi all I’m pretty much confused here having read lots of posts about fixed terms and new offers, so just wondering if anyone can say whether this from the loyal customer deal from Octopus is worth taking up, or should do nothing and transfer onto the variable rates? My fixed term ends on 7th March. I currently pay £45.71pm…
