Exclusive tariffs

I think they are only for existing customers .
I was offered one by Scottishpower at £180/month when new customers were being offered £260/month for the same usage.
Checking the unit prices it does work out less than the SVR after the upcoming rise in the price cap and there were no exit fees .

"Ofgem rules say existing customers and new customers must be offered the same tariffs"

That piece is about access to the capped standard variable tariff, there is nothing in the Ofgem rules that I am aware of that prevents a supplier from having qualifying conditions on a fixed tariff, like ownership of an EV, or a Tesla Powerwall, or be a customer for a defined period of time.bristolleedsfan said:"Ofgem rules say existing customers and new customers must be offered the same tariffs"

O/P is referring to different tariff rates being offered to existing customers when fixed rate ends than is being offered to new customers, either this applies or it doesnt "Ofgem rules say existing customers and new customers must be offered the same tariffs"

O/P is referring to different tariff rates being offered to existing customers when fixed rate ends than is being offered to new customers, nothing at all to do with smart meter tariffs.I know, and it doesn't alter my answer, the 'exclusive' tariffs people are being offered by various suppliers will all be published fixed tariffs which may or may not have pre-conditions attached to them.I've not yet seen any evidence that there are unpublished tariffs being offered, or any claims that the renewal communications people are receiving do not meet the Ofgem requirements, i.e. informing them of the cheapest fixed deal available to them that matches their current fixed tariff if they have one, or variable if that is what they currently have, as well as the cheapest tariff overall, which will generally be the capped variable tariff at the moment.Having a fixed tariff that requires having previously been a customer for a period of time does not break any rules that I am aware of...

Hi,if you log on to your supplier's site you may find an exclusive deal.I trawled through BG to get a fix I was happy with, cheaper than SVT just now and fixed until June 23.0

The first 2 posts refer to existing customers getting an 'exclusive' tariff not available to new customers.bristolleedsfan said:"Ofgem rules say existing customers and new customers must be offered the same tariffs"Until recently it was exactly the opposite situation where new customers were offered a cheap tariff to lure them, whilst existing customers could not get that cheap tariff (banks sometimes do this with interest rates)I think the Ofgem ruling was designed to deal with the latter problem.0 -
