Hilariously bad energy advice from Checkatrade
According to Checkatrade the cost of charging a Night Storage Heater could be less than a penny per night...
That 's impossible, even with E7 at the 5p or 6p per kWh rates that they think are available.
That 's impossible, even with E7 at the 5p or 6p per kWh rates that they think are available. They've never heard of modern High Heat Retention NSHs with dual E7 and 24h supplies, only the obsolete plain Box of Bricks, and they don't even realise they have an output control that needs to be set to minimum when going to bed and
opened up if it gets chilly in the afternoon or evening.
Instead, they
say you can switch on an NSH in the afternoon, but with the old style ones to which they refer that would only be possible for the handful of people who have a smart meter that has a Boost Button.
With this level of incompetence (did they get help from Shell?), perhaps they should rebrand to BewareATrader !

But in any case, it's never been possible to run an NSH for under a penny a night.I never take much notice of these trade organisations, they all seem to look after their members' interests far more than those of their customers. Just like the ASA and the 'OFxxx' so-called watchdogs and regulators !0 -

Never, ever take any notice of these "checkatrade" people. They only recommend those who can afford/daft enough to pay them to do so.Gerry1 said:I never take much notice of these trade organizations, they all seem to look after their members' interests far more than those of their customers.I'm writing a book on plagiarism. It wasn't my idea.1
