Pure Planet transfer to Shell Energy - Watch the tariff!

I was with Pure planet and was automatically shifted to Shell Energy.
I just had my first Shell bill
It seems that they put me on the economy 7 tariff because I have an Economy 7 meter, even though it would be cheaper without
I sent a message from my account - no response
I phoned them to put me on the cheaper tariff backdated to the start of my contract
I was told that they would have to call me back - Still waiting
So if you have an economy 7 meter and have been switched to Shell, check your bill - don't believe that you are on the cheapest tariff until you see it on the bill.
I just had my first Shell bill
The email notification says:
You’re on our Flexible 6 tariff, which is the cheapest we have available, given current wholesale costs
But the pdf bill says:
Our cheapest variable tariff
Flexible 6 Direct Debit ebill - over the next 12 months you could save £116.46
Our cheapest tariff overall
Flexible 6 Direct Debit - over the next 12 months you could save £116.46
The tariff you are on Flexible 6 Economy 7 Direct Debit ebill
So I am NOT on the cheapest tariff. It seems that they put me on the economy 7 tariff because I have an Economy 7 meter, even though it would be cheaper without

Welcome to the forum.
Whether the single-rate tariff or the E7 version of it will be cheapest will depend entirely on your split of use between Day and Night on E7. Without that information it's impossible for Shell, or you, to tell.Sensible_senior said:Flexible 6 Direct Debit - over the next 12 months you could save £116.46The tariff you are on Flexible 6 Economy 7 Direct Debit ebill
So I am NOT on the cheapest tariff.Do you have storage heaters? Do you heat your water overnight using electricity?Typically, in a year, how many kWh do you use on the Day rate? And hoew many on the Night rate? And what are the relevant Flexible 6 tariffs?N. Hampshire, he/him. Octopus Intelligent Go elec & Tracker gas / Vodafone BB / iD mobile. Hi Sensible Senior.
You are not alone.
Shell Energy did the same thing to me. I have an old dual tariff meter but have paid a single tariff for over 15 years. The move from Pure Planet to Shell resulted in Shell Energy automatically putting me on an Economy 7 tarrif.
I found out because I phoned Shell (a challenge in itself) and asked them what tariff I was on as soon as I was told that an account had been set up.
I suspect that Shell Energy is ignoring any tariffs that we were on before the transfer and just looking at the type of meter.
Everyone with an Economy 7 meter who wants a single rate tariff needs to contact Shell and speak to a person over the phone to make sure that they have got what they want.
It took me 4 hours, and about 6 phone calls to be put through to the correct person to sort this out. I was cut off mid call 3 times. No-one phoned me back. I was put through to wrong departments and people in other countries with very poor phone connections. I nearly lost the will to live.
