I'm currently paying £72 a month gas and electric with EON my fixed rate ends in 19 days, they are offering me a new variable tariff at £83 a month. I have read before that martin suggests people not to switch tariffs or suppliers, So just wondering what peoples thoughts are should i let it run 19 days and switch onto a variable or upgrade to new tariff.

  • It's not really possible to tell just based on your DD amount as that doesn't tell us anything.

Can you post your current tariff details, and the details for the new one you're being offered, plus your annual usage?

They are offering a fix of 23.5p per unit?!?!

If that is accurate and there isnt a huge exit fee I would be snapping their hand off. What is the name of the tariff bring offered?

They said variable, so guessing the current svr cap.
  • Ah, in that case even that is above the current cap.
  • I missed the reference to variable too - so used to seeing people ask about fixes! I did think there didn't seem to be much difference on the quoted figures though!

The standing charges are a killer though, around 100 times everyone else's rates.
