New Gas Supply: Can I get a free meter
The thread title says it all. Had national grid lay a supply and meter box. They advised me that many energy suppliers would offer a free meter, but i am struggling to find information on this. Also would prefer Dual fuel (if it is cheaper) and not be locked into a tariff with exit fees. All advice welcome.

another free advert for Uswitch
I see Ann Robinson was back on BBC Breakfast news this morning imploring people to switch supplier again to lower their tariffs by £200. Just phoning up their supplier and changing tariff from Standard Variable ( or BGs Fix and Fall ) to a years fix with direct debit achieves the same result but without making Uswitch £60…

Help -completely baffled by NPower and our meters!
We moved into this house on 1st April (yes, I know - but it was after lunch!) and phoned in the final readings left by the previous owners to NPower. We planned to leave NPower and transfer to Ovo, but got an e mail from them stating as we had 2 meters we would have to pay 2 standing charges. We actually have 3 meters in…

Electric - am I understanding this correctly.
Hi Everyone, I have an issue with my energy supplier which I have not experienced before and would like your opinion on the situation. I provide meter readings every quarter and pay on receipt of bill, I have done this for a number of years and everything was fine until early 2013. My supplier wrote to me saying they were…

New Boiler grants/ financial help
My husband & I are currently having a nightmare - help appreciated. We moved into our home (we are home owners) 3 years ago, and discovered the property has a Baxi back-boiler, its the very old kind from when the property was built in the 60's, with a huge water tank in the loft. Things have started to go wrong, the water…

Claim for inaccurate EPC
Hi all, My wife and I bought a house in March. The EPC showed Band D(58) with potential to C(80), which we thought was quite good for the type of property (stone walled, barn conversion), and this was one of the factors in choosing this property over other similar construction properties that had much lower scores. We've…

Switching energy supplier when I have FIT with EON
Hi 1. I currently have my Gas and Electricity bills on Direct Debit with EON. Also I have my Feed in Tariff (FIT) with EON! 2. Does anyone know if my FIT payments stay with EON if I switch to another energy supplier or do I have to switch the FIT to the new supplier that I might change to? 3. Is there anyone on this forum…

Scottish Power Billing Block.
Hi there, I am having an issue with Scottish Power at the moment. My account has a Billing Block on it and no date when it will be lifted. My bills get produced quarterly and my last one was due on the 11th June. I went online a few days after to access it and noticed it hadn't been produced yet. I held off and kept…

Getting EV car, yet impossible to compare nor switch to economy 7?
Hey, I'm with npower dual fuel at the moment. I have gas boiler for heating, and the rest is electric. However, I'm planning on getting a plugin hybrid electric car and charge that at home, thus my electricity usage will double in a year (from 3200 kWh to 6400 kWn per year approx). I went to browse all major energy…

I work as an Independent rep for First Utility
They are even sending private messages to posters who post on here that they are thinking of switching touting for business. Should they be doing this?

Phone or online for switching?
I noticed a couple of posts about the Co-op being cheaper than Eon so did some comparing and I can save a couple £100 so I am going to switch to the Co-op from Eon. So would I be better contacting the Co-op on-line or phoning them on their 0800 number tomorrow morning?

Ovo Energy Direct Debits
On price comparison Ovo came second to First Utility for cost saving over dual fuel with BG, which I pay quarterly on receipt of bill. Reviews on First Utility do not encourage me to switch to them. Ovo want DD payment, and I'm a bit reluctant in case the DD amount goes up. Our usage of both gas and elect is lower than…

Energy Newbie!
Hi my other half and I have just bought our first house, and have no idea about the energy side of things! We took a meter reading the day we got the keys and the house is supplied by eon for gas and electric. I searched online and started the switching process to First Utility, but we haven't phoned Eon at all yet. Do we…

Scottish Power Tariff Switch
Hi, I am currently on Scottish Powers Feb 2015 fixed tariff which has a combined £50 exit fee, does anyone know if this still applies if I switch to another SP tariff (Fixed Sep 2015, no exit fees) as the terms only state about switching to 'another supplier'.

Most economical way to run a freezer
I've read a number of times on this forum, that it's best to keep your freezer full, to ensure maximum efficiency and lowest running costs. Filling gaps in the freezer drawers with bread/bottles of water etc is sometimes also recommended. However, today, I read on another forum that this advice is incorrect.. that it's…

Leaving Eon, maybe
I am currently with Eon on their 1 year fix with a penalty for leaving. Coop energy is about £200 a year cheaper. If I change to Eon's standard tariff through my online account and then switch to the Coop will I avoid the penalty charge for leaving Eon?

a problem with Scottish Power
I have a dual fuel fixed deal which is ending at the end of the month with Scottish Power. In February this year, they came and changed my rather ancient electricity meter. I gave up looking at my account on-line because I found their website appalling and buggy, so when I logged on a few weeks ago to check my latest bill…
