Leaving Eon, maybe

I am currently with Eon on their 1 year fix with a penalty for leaving.

Coop energy is about £200 a year cheaper.

If I change to Eon's standard tariff through my online account and then switch to the Coop will I avoid the penalty charge for leaving Eon?

No, they will charge you the penalty when you switch to their Standard tariff.

Pretty pointless putting on such a clause if it could be avoided so easily.

I just checked, it is £5 per fuel penalty, so it is goodbye Eon.

Now to try and make some cash off the switch.

You can change tarriff without getting the penalty. The penalty is only if you leave eon whilst on that tarriff

I'm leaving Eon too after many years as a happy customer.

Moved my gas away last year for a 25% saving and as my fixed electricity tariff ends next month and the cheapest option with Eon is a 20% increase I decided to shop around and am moving for a 5% decrease in cost - first time in years I've managed to fix with a new provider for cheaper than the current one. Basically the gap again is 25%.

You snooze, you lose Eon, sorry.
  • I am leaving Eon too, for Co-op energy.

I pretty much inherited Eon as the previous occupant used it. I'm not sure how much I'll save, but I asked Eon on numerous occasions to put me on a monthly DD and they just kept on with the quarterly bills.

Are comparethemarket and the Coop not speaking to one another?

I thought I would get a meerkat for my granddaughter but the Coop does not appear on their list.

I am also with Eon and after reading this post I thought I would see what the Co-op could do for me and went through some comparison sites.

I also could save about £200 a year by switching to Fair & Square September 2015 but it seems you cannot use comparison sites to switch to this tariff.

I shall be phoning the Co-op tomorrow.

£200 a year is worth the hassle.
