Switching utilities with account in credit
Hi all, Apologies if this is covered elsewhere, had a look, couldn't see anything, but I could have easily missed it! Just wondering what happens if you switch gas and electric while your account is in credit? I appreciate some of this will be used to pay the final bill, but I know for a fact there will be some left as our…

Are utilita any good?
I've recently used the energyhelpline to see if I can save any money by changing suppliers. And it's come up that my biggest saving would be through Utilita. I've never heard of this company before, and was wondering what other peoples thoughts are before I go ahead and switch :) Any help, advice or experience would be…

nPower Meter Problem
Good evening! I'd like to try and get some advice about what to do next with nPower as we've had problems since last April regarding our meter. We moved into our current house in December 2011 and the purchase came through in March 2012 so we changed from prepayment electricity to direct debit electricity (or so we…

EDF Price Reassurance Scheme
My mother is a member of the Government's Warm Front Discount Scheme, and recently received a letter from EDF Energy saying that because of this she would also be eligible for their Price Reassurance Scheme. The text in the main letter doesn't explain much of what this is. The accompanying booklet explains that it is a…

Homecare plan or alike
On my previous thread I explained that I had a boiler problem and that I was going to get a gas installer to have a look at it. Anyway, went to work today and two people told me that they used BG Homecare and they both really rated it. One used it once and the other used it twice. Neither had anything bad to say and one of…

Scottish Power Direct Debit Inflation - Check Yours!
Scottish Power recently decided to put up my monthly direct debit payment by almost 20%, and explained this was because it had added up my bills for the past 12 months and divided by 12 to get a reliable monthly figure. When I checked, I found they had added up 14 months worth of bills, including two winter bills. During…

N Power Switch - Time?
Hi All, I have read a few threads here about problems with Npower and getting a contract. I initiated a switch from BG to them on 12/12/12 via their website. I received an email suggesting to expect a contract 'shortly' soon after. On 19/12 I received a one page letter, picking up that I have a smart meter and suggesting…

How much to heat yopur house ??
During this cold spell it would be interesting to see how much it is costing people to heat their houses. If you have gas CH this is a fairly easy evolution - record your gas usage for a 24 hour period. Obviously this will vary with the size of your house and how warm you want your house. If people then post the details,…

Ripped off by my landlord?
We have sub-meters in my flat that we put pound coins in, in order to pay for electricity. I have been told by my landlord that it is set at 5.6, and he promises he is not making a profit. So for every £1 we put in, we get 5.6kw on electricity? Does this sound too high? Is there anything I can do about it?

Economy Energy, who are they?
Who are these people? Never heard of them, had a rep stop me in the street a few days back and I gather they only offer prepay and the rep told me THEY supply the energy, nobody is behind them like Sainsburys Energy and BG for eg, but their website seems vague! http://www.economyenergy.co.uk/index.html
