De-energized? What next?

I moved into a flat 6 months ago that has a prepayment meter and wanted to get a credit meter as I find the prepay tariff high. I called EDF to change the meter or just get the prepay thing out.

I was told that my meter does not match the address and that they will sort it out and all this happened before the olympics and they said it would be a while because of the games. So I said fine I will wait....

6 months later and I am still waiting! I am paying 17p per kwh and 6p per kwh at midnight for 7 hours. I am paying so much during the day. Can I switch suppliers? I think this place has had the de-energized thing for 10 years and EDF added a prepay meter because they could not bill properly.

I want to at least switch suppliers to get a better tariff in the mean time and then ask them to put in a new meter..... I need help, what can I do?
