EON doubling monthly DD - but just till March??
I've been paying £100 a month for gas and electricity for 16 months now and got a letter saying I owe £190 and they are increasing my DD to £190 a month. But I read on another thread that this is just till zero month of March/April. Is that correct? It's not £190 for the next 12 months?

EDF - totally confused!
2 years ago I got a massive (£400) gas bill as although I was assured (yet again) that I was paying enough the sums just didn't add up. Consequently, I had to have a stupid prepayment meter fitted. I've just checked and there is £13 odd left to pay. I rang EDF to check this and was told that a bill was due to be printed…

Room temperatures
Every winter on MSE we get post after post from people stating that they have the temperature in their rooms at unbelievably low levels. In the last couple of days, we have had posts claiming 10C, 13C, and 15C. Frequently 17C is quoted as the ‘norm’ – well it ain’t! I suspect many of these posters have faulty thermostats,…

Who is the best supplier/tariff?
I'm in the process of buying my first house, I have never owned a house before or paid utilities. From looking at the hips etc the current owner is with Scottish Power for gas and electric, and United Utilities for water. The house I am buying is a 3 bed terrace. I am single and will be in work during the weekdays. I can't…

EON - Annual "averaging"
When I moved to EON in September they set my DD at a figure which I agreed with and will , by my calculations, result in a zero balance next September. I will however have a debit figure when I receive my next bill in January. Will this result in a ridiculous hike in my DD for the rest of the "winter" period to acheive a…

Lining behind rads
Recently saw this in B&Q. Big roll of what looks like aluminium foil which you cut and stick behind the radiator. It reflects heat. Wondering if anyone had this and if it's effective. Very cheap but curious as to how effective it is.. Any experience? Thx

Metric Conversion Factor
Trying to get my head around the 'Metric Conversion Factor' on the gas meter. Our meter measures in 'cuft' and on the bills it says to convert to 'm3' you have to multiply by 2.83. So 1 cuft x 2.83 = 2.83cubic metres ??? Thought a foot was smaller than a metre - or am I missing the point ?? Should it not be:- 1m3 = 2.83…
