Hi,
I am on Fix Online 3 with Eon.
I last had metres read on 1st Oct. Electric read 48972, Gas 2935
I have looked today and it says Electric 50897, Gas 3032
This is a usage of Electric 1925, Gas 497
I have switched to the Fix Online 3 around the October time but am not sure how much I pay for both gas and electricity - does anyone know how I can find out - and also can anyone show me how to work out how much money I have spent on the gas and electricity since 1st October please?
Reason I am asking is I have bought a 2000w oil filled electric radiator and I am using it in the conservatory - I have got rid of my electric clothes dryer about the same time I bought the heater - but am not sure in the difference in energy usage. With this cold weather I seem to have the heater on 10 hours a day
Sorry for waffling and thanks for any help offered.

A 2 kilowatt heater will take a maximum of 20 Kw hours in 10 hours.
Typical day rate electricity is around 12 pence per unit so no more than £2.40/day.
If it has a thermostat then it will use less than this, depending on the weather. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
I am on Fix Online 3 with Eon and I have a spreadsheet that calculates the cost of gas and electricity on that tariff. according to that
gas
0.065247 first 587.3972603 £38.33
0.034073 5032 £171.44
£209.77 - £46.57 = £163.20
electricity
0.237300 first 197.260274 £46.81
0.103845 1727.739726 £179.42
£226.23 - £50.22 = £176.00
the - amount is the 22.2% discount and the first figures are the pro rata of the 900 and 2680
also I am assuming that your gas meter is metric

Forgive me for being thick but I'm trying to work out my gas costs on this Plan.
If I use say 2000Kwh of gas how do they apportion part to the high Normal Price 6p approx & part to the lower 3p approx?
Any chance of nicking a copy of your spreadsheet??

Hi joem1619,
We calculate how many primary units to charge you for as follows:
The annual gas threshold of 2680/365 x the number of days the bill covers = the number of primary units charged on the bill in question.
Sorry for stealing your thunder Robert2009.

It depends how long the 2000kWh is spent over - the tier 1 allocation is calculated daily.
Most Eon tariffs tend to use 2680 kWh per annum at the higher tier 1 rate. Subtract the exact tier 2 price from the tier 1 price and work out what the monthly extra is. EG (2680 x (6.123p-3.023p)) is 2680 x 3.023p or £81 per year (£6.75 per month).
Or if you want to work it out monthly then 2680 / 12 is 223.3 so the first 223 kWhs are paid at the higher rate. (670 kWh per quarter.)0 -
OK -I hope Santa is bringing me a good calculator.
So if my Annual gas useage is 20000Kwh how will this breakdown into costs before discounts using these computations?.0 -
Hi Joem1619,
If you use 20,000 kWh of gas and you wish to know how much this will cost, do the following calculation.
2680 x primary unit rate (insert unit price)
17,320 (20,000-2680) x secondary unit rate (insert unit rate)
Add the two together for your annual gas spend pre VAT and discounts.

Sit down for five minutes and work through some sums and calculations. It is not complicated. Once you've thought and worked out how it works then you will have that knowledge for the future. You will then instantaneously know what to do with future price lists. (The future calculation is not instantaneous but remembering what to do will be.)
But you do need to make some initial effort to understand the very simple structure.
The number of units charged at Tier 1 will be quoted annually and will be calculated to a pro rata daily amount depending on the period of any bill.0
