Help - Scottish Power Problems
Existing ScottishPower (SP) customer - on 30 July I researched the best fixed rate deal which was SP's Fixed Price Dual Fuel Aug 09 deal. I was unable to speak to customer services so I went on their website and completed the form to transfer. The pop up box said confirmation would be received in the next few days and take…

British Gas are coming to take our stuff if we don't pay up! so angry. Who can help ?
We have been with them for about 18 months. They overcharged us on our gas bill ans undercharged on the electric. Anyway, in July we locked ourselves into British Gas to keep costs down. At the same time we sorted the direct debits out. We were more in credit with the electric than we owed on the gas, so we agreed to put…

Scottish Power electricity prepay meter outrage - advice required
Hi, My sister-in-law, who is on a prepay meter with Scottish Power for her electricity, today rang them to ask about converting to a normal meter as the tariff is cheaper and she can pay by direct debit. To her horror they informed her that the meter hadn't been properly calibrated for some time and that she now had…

Economy 7
I am considering having storage heaters installed in my property as I cannot get a gas connection. I got a quote from my Electric Supplier (Southern Electric) to install two storage heaters and to convert the emersion heater on to the Economy 7 meter. They have given me a quote to carry out the work and provide the…

N power Business customers
If you have come out of a five year deal with them in the last couple of years i suggest you check your bills. Many of my clients have been coming to contract end over the last year or two and we discovered a very interesting fact. Npower were renewing people from the contract sign date and not the live date. It would take…

Switching problem - MoneySupermarket switch to EON
I did a energy via Moneysupermarket (MS) in the middle of July and got an e-mail back basically saying that they all the the info and that the switch would take place within 6-8 weeks. Anyway, I hear nothing so I call up today to see what is happening. I spoke to someone at Moneysupermarket and they said that all EON cases…

How, (deliberately?), misleading are some comparison sites for energy switching?
If you are going to use the price comparison sites do your own calculation of your current annual costs. From my comparison exercise, expect the switch sites to exagerate your current costs - at least for tariffs with Direct debit or online discounts. I'm on an: online, pay monthly by Direct Debit, Tariff from EON. I know…

which way to save money?
When i eventually turn on the heating (gas), what is the best way to save money? Having it on all day on low so the house has a constant temperature or putting it on the timer so it maybe comes on a couple of hours during the day and again in the afternoon into the evening? I wondered if heating the house from cold to warm…

To fix or not to fix?
I realise this must've have been asked a million times before, but the answer surely changes every few weeks. I'm thinking of signing up to Scottish Power's Fixed Price Energy Dec 09. But with wholesale prices now falling, is a it a good idea to sign up to a fixed price tariff right now? There is a £50 get-out fee if you…

Has Scottish Power's online tariff gone up yet?
I know that a lot of online tariffs haven't had the recent price rises applied yet and will be getting them soon. Scottish Power online looks like the best tariff for me, but it doesn't say on energyhelpline whether it has had it's price rise yet. Anyone know?

Looking to switch
Hey guys, I've just moved into a new flat and am looking to switch from EDF who are the current suppliers as looking at the comparison tables, EON are cheaper. Although I have just read on the forum attached the MSE article, that BG and EON are raising their prices again soon - is this true? Also, is it worth capping the…

Reading own meters
Yet another estimated bill has arrived and of course BG would be happy for me to read (their) meter and phone the usage in. Having had the same problem as many others in that both gas and elec seem to pick an estimated usage out of the air i am getting fed up of bills with estimates. So perhaps it is about time we started…

Utility Buying Groups
Hi, new to this forum, first post so be gentle with me. Has anyone had dealings with Gas and Electricity buying groups. EG 'justswitch.net' I have just started to research them and would value any info/experience which might save time. They usually operate amongst small businesses but have started to allow homeowners in.…

There is a planned BG Price Rise for February 09....
I know there are some other threads on here about BG price rises but we are swithcing to SP and have not capped. On Friday I had to ring BG and give my reading and got the usual 'why are you leaving....' etc. Anyway, the guy said 'have you capped' and I said no and said that we had saved money by not capping and switching…

NPower put me on wrong tariff
I moved into my house in Oct 07 - its a 3 bedroom semi and i live on my own. NPower asked me some questions of type of house, how many ppl lived there and what type of heating system i had (which i said was a normal central heating system). Having rang them to find out why they had placed me on the Economy 7 tariff where i…
