which way to save money?

Options
When i eventually turn on the heating (gas), what is the best way to save money?
Having it on all day on low so the house has a constant temperature or putting it on the timer so it maybe comes on a couple of hours during the day and again in the afternoon into the evening?
I wondered if heating the house from cold to warm a couple of times a day would cost more in the long run.Has anyone tried this and knows please. :D

Do you leave your kettle on all day ?

Are you in the house all day?
If it is cold outside, then if I come to a house where the heating has been on all day, (OH at home  ) I find it soooo hot and airless.
But if I've set the timer to come on half an hour before I'm due in, then it's pleasant.
Maybe try it both ways and keep a note of your gas consumption for each way, even down to the part units.

Yes, there have been several threads on this as on many other topics on this board, but unless the Board Guides merge the threads, it does get a bit awkward to find a thread that has answers.
