People of UK revolt!
Hello How about this for an idea, I know there will be lots of people out there that can tell me why this cant happen but here goes anyway.......... We pick a date, say 10 November 2008, which would give us time to organise a petition or whatever it may be called. Send emails out to everyone we know to say that on 10…

Being told about price rises
I'm pretty sure that when Eon raised their prices earlier this year (April?) they didn't tell me. They haven't told me yet about the latest price rise - I don't suppose they will. Does anyone else think this is disgusting? How can they get away with this? Are other suppliers the same? Steve

Replacing gas central heating with a log burner
We are considering replacing our gas system with a log burner which heats our water too. We live in an old property with a big chimney etc. and the council have confirmed that we would not require planning permission to do so. I need information on types of burners and how they work, but there isn't a lot of info available…

B gas Essentials better than capped till 2011?
For years I've been on B Gas standard for gas (on a normal meter) and EDF for electricity, both paid for by quarterly cheque. I work as a self-employed freelance with a v low income and am on working tax credit. I have finally been shaken out of my lethargy to change my energy supplier arrangements, and a few days ago…

Relative energy costs?
I am doing an exercise where I need to know the relative costs of gas, oil and electricity. I know it’s a very volatile situation currently, but just a rough estimate based on current average market prices would be very helpful and it doesn’t need to be fantastically accurate. Thanks

Bolier and Central Heating cover
I currently have HOME 200 with British Gas and it is costing me £18/month. It is up for renewal in November. Has anyone used any other companies for this type of cover? Where they repair any boiler/heating faults and service the boiler annually? Are there any decent alternative companies for a lot less per month? Thanks

EDF Small print
Hi, I'm new to this chat forum so please excuse me if I don't explain myself very well. I have been looking at my energy use over the past year and checking the small print on my EDF energy bill. I am a little confused as to when they are 'supposed' to inform me of any increases. According to their small print they only…

Electricity payment problems
Hi everyone, I’m a new forum user and hope I haven’t put this in the wrong place - I’m sorry if I have. My problem is to do with my electricity supply. I moved in to my new ‘new build’ house back in December, and when I did I used the current electricity supplier - N Power. When I did they set me up with a direct debit of…

Changing Supplier
Hi, Just a quick question. We are currently with Npower, and using the comparison sites it seems that a different Npower tarrif is the best bet. Should/Can I go through a switching site and get my £15/Free Crate of wine. Or should I just call them up direct as Im not technically changing suppliers im just changing tariffs?…

I am trying to sort electric central heating for our Bungalow. Have you got to have a water tank for an electric combi boiler. I am told that I need a large water tank and that if I do not the electric may cut out if I have too many electric items on at the same time. Also electric central heating is slow to heat up. Where…

How can this be possible?
I live in a rented house, stone built and not well maintained. Just the two of us here, and we both work all day. We do not have gas in the house, so everything is powered by electricity. I cook most evenings, the water is heated by an electric water heater that was set at around 55 degrees C, and the heating is storage…

3kw Convector or 750w oil filed raditor
Can I pick you're brains? Below are theoretical energy consumption figures, forgetting the effect of the thermostat regulating the power consumption on each heater as the room heats up. At the moment I have a 3Kw wall hung convector heater in my front room. The room is about 12 x 18 x 9ft. Typically on a cold day I would…
