Will brittish gas charge to disconnect?

We want to come of mains gas our friend is corgi registered and has kindly offered to remove the meter if they ask for it back but i want to know will they charge a disconection fee?we are running our heating of solid wood and we are converting our combi boiler and cooker to canisters instead so we are cutting out the service charges and ever increasing prices i just need to work out the total cost so need to know if they are likley to charge?

They probably won't charge (can't remember of the top of my head (it'll save them paing for it to be there), but they'll probably charge if you want it put back in. So long as you are on a no standing charge tariff, it shouldn't make much difference to you (unless you need that cupboard space.

AS to removing the meter yourself (or getting a friend to do it), that counts as tampering and they will have an issue with that.

Either way you need to tell them what you are doing or plan to do as corgi engineers are not supposed to do permanent removals of meters, they can do a temporary move only as the meter is the responsibly of your supplier.

Do you want to cease your supply of gas to your property totally have you no other gas appliances ie cooker boiler?
