Bolier and Central Heating cover
I currently have HOME 200 with British Gas and it is costing me £18/month. It is up for renewal in November.
Has anyone used any other companies for this type of cover? Where they repair any boiler/heating faults and service the boiler annually? Are there any decent alternative companies for a lot less per month?
Thanks

Ask to see CIPHE (Chartered Institute of Plumbing & Heating Engineering)0

Thanks very much for that link.
Anyone actually have cover with anyone other than BG?0 -
Hi I have homecare 400 with BG but have downgraded it to 300 flexi today as i had my annual visit on Friday and i am saving £14.54 a month. It's phenomenal how much they get away with charging considering their yearly inspection lasts around half hour and they don't do much!!Good luck finding cheaper cover, let me know what you find!!!Debt to clear: feels endless...
Weight loss to go: 42lb/13.5lb
Maybe someday i'll be skinny, organised and debt free..

I agree. Not only that, I received a call from them the other day saying they were deferring my inspection for 6 months - perhaps it'll only be every 18 months from now on.....
I also mentioned that I was concerned about a badly rusting radiator, but was told it was not covered unless it actually starts leaking.Stompa0 -
Tis a racket, Stompa, some experienced plumbers on here KNOW, not willing to engage in moneysaving ethos, just makee monee.0

EOn do a great central heating care package, full cover for £13 per month boiler, radiator and full CH system cover including valves etc. unlimited call outs, parts and labour.
However, it's only available in certain areas at the moment as it's still expanding, namely the North West and parts of the midlandsDannii_B

I have a heating engineer who checks my boiler for £30. He's CORGI registered, always gives me a receipt and never has overcharged me. He came out the day after I called him last winter when my boiler broke down. His bill was £80 (including new parts). If you can find a reliable heating engineer I think it's better than having an agreement with the gas companies." The greatest wealth is to live content with little."

I am in the process of changing from BG's Homecare 300 @ £21.91 per month to Southern Electric @ £16.50 per month for Boiler and Central Heating cover (there is a Boiler-only cover for £12.50).
I have opted to pay for this instead of finding a local CORGI guy as, in my experience, trying to get a local guy in this area to call when you need one is almost impossible unless you have family contacts or a long-standing aquaintance with one.0 -

Undoubtedly true!
However it is the 'If' that creates the problem for most of us.0 -

Perhaps single ladies should bear this in mind and think about marrying one ?0
