Bolier and Central Heating cover

I'm stopping the BG 300 cover when it is up for renewal in February - we have found a corgi gas fitter now who seems reliable, and we will have the boiler regularly serviced (instead of "inspected") and see how we get on.

I have finished with BG because of the high costs.
However it is simply not true that BG don't carry out a 'full service'. They carry it out exactly to the manufacturer's service schedule.
I have looked at loads of full servicing schedules from several manufacturers and there is very little 'servicing' to do on boilers; it is basically cleaning and inspecting visually - look at the servicing shedule for your boiler on line.
If BG have boilers on their servicing plans, it is not in their interests to neglect servicing as if anything goes wrong because of their poor servicing, then BG have to put it right.
Put it this way what additional servicing do you feel your Corgi fitter will carry out? - Have you asked him?0 -

Given that:
1. the amount of time they spend on my boiler is much less than it used to be
2. when asked, their engineers have told me that they no longer perform a full service
I find that very hard to believe!Stompa0 -

Well then explain what you feel is being missed from a full service and how their service is lacking.
Believe me if BG had missed anything from my servicing I would have noticed.
Have you looked at your servicing manual?0 -
I have to say I have Homecare 400 and this year I have had my toilet unblocked and a pipe outside cut to release pressure, a new socket installed in my hall as it was banged while vacuuming and broke, a new dimmer switch in my lounge and sockets replaced in my kitchen after a faulty appliance was plugged in. Honestly I'm not usually like this but was so glad I had complete cover! For me the benefit of knowing I am covered and don't have to try and find an engineer who will turn up is worth having. I just wish they replaced roofs!Self Employed, Running my Dream Jobs0

I haven't got a clue what they're supposed to do! All I'm saying is that it takes them much less time than it used to, and that they've told me that whatever it is they do is nowhere near as extensive as it used to be.
Now it looks as though it may only happen every 18 months, but you can be sure that my premiums aren't going to go down.Stompa0
