Gas boiler service contracts
Can anyone recommend a good supplier for gas boiler service contracts please? I've heard Seeboard are reasonably priced but don't know about the quality of their service. I've tried British Gas before and the experience I had of their customer service was awful so I wouldn't go near them again.

NPower Cold Calling....what are they trying to sell me?
This is the second time in about 2 months that NPower have cold called saying 'Are you paying a monthly rental fee for your gas meter?' 'We can eliminate it' As always, getting the real story from them is like getting blood from a stone. Does anyone know what the catch is here?? Thanks ice

Heat output of lightbulbs
I understand that non-fluorescent lightbulbs are not very efficient and that about 80-85% of the energy used by them is converted to heat rather than light. Given that, is it such a bad thing to leave a light on in winter when you don't need it at a time when you would have your heating on? The heat generated by the…

Boiler question
I turned the water temerature on my boiler to 35 degrees, it was still nice and hot. The boiler fires up from time to time to heat a small supply of water in the tank, so it comes out of the tap hot straight away. If I turn the water temperature down to zero, the boiler won't fire up in this way, but when I turn the tap…

Unit prices
Over the last few years, gas and electricity suppliers seem to have become very coy about their actual tariffs. They're all very quick to tell you how much you would save if you moved to them but not to tell you how much per unit you would be paying. I know the comparison webiste now do the work for you, but is there a…

Comparison Websites
First, thanks to Martin through his e mail this week to let me know that BG are raising their Click Energy prices. BG haven't seen fit to let me know yet! I used the comparison site to check other prices but I find it impossible to compare accurately. I pay by monthly and BG, in line with many other providers, agreed a set…

Is it worth it?
I regularly use the comparison sites for utility bills and have found out that I would be £10.50 better off annualy if I switched. Seems a bit pointless - would you switch regardless or do you have a minimum saving level???

Students needs help
I'm writing this on behalf of my son and his two flatmates. Brief history - rented a 3 bed flat in Leeds where they all attended university, with £250 deposit paid to landlord. They all left in July 2006 - having cleaned up the flat and left it in a presentable condition. Landlord required proof from utility companies that…

Electric being cut off
Hi. I'm not sure if this is on the right board, so please move me if it isn't. I'm worried sick as I've been really stupid. I didn't know that my standing order didn't go out to EDF back in August and any letters I received from them were just put aside as they are usually just statements. I honestly didn't know I was…
