First, thanks to Martin through his e mail this week to let me know that BG are raising their Click Energy prices. BG haven't seen fit to let me know yet! I used the comparison site to check other prices but I find it impossible to compare accurately. I pay by monthly and BG, in line with many other providers, agreed a set amount with me at the start of the contract. After some months it was plain to see that my gas payment was too high as I was now nearly £90 in credit. A request to them to have this refunded and a new DD amount set was met with "We still have the coldest part of the winter to come and it will even out" Well, I'm sorry I don't agree. I'm going to be away for the next six weeks and my heating will be off so I won't actually use any. And when I check for a lower rate on the comparison site, it aslks me to put down my monthly DD amount which, being too high, means that cannot give me a fair comparison. I'm going to email BG andsay that if they don't reduce my Gas DD, I'm going to switch anyway.

BG don't like refunding money in the winter, the reason they have cracked down on this is because they have been losing tens of losing millions a year in bad debt and are trying to slash costs. However if you provide a current meter reading and insist on the refund, they will do it.

With regard to the price increase, that comes into effect next week. It is the same price increase applied to other BG customers a few months ago - click energy prices were frozen until the end of the year. However in the spring prices are falling again (including click energy). If you still want to consider switching, email them and ask for your consumption in kwh as this is far more accurate than inputting your dd amount into the comparison sites.

Thanks, but as I've only been with them for a few months, they won't have an accurate consumption figure. I told them in the email that I would switch if I didn't get a satisfactory outcome.
