Switched but completely duff meter readings
Hands up for being at fault on part of this. Left Powergen in late May. Gave some meter readings a few days before actual switch day as was away. Got a final bill from Powergen and settled without checking figures as figure requested did add up to roughly what I was expecting. However, Got first bill from new supplier…

Daily meter readings.
How sad am I LOL? I'm going to take my electricity meter readings every day and spreadsheet them so I can see how things are going. Does anyone feel the need for obsessive compulsive detail freakery? Seriouslly, I think it'll be interesting for a while.

Wayleaves
Do you have an electricity pole or stay on your land? Are you being paid rent (a wayleave) for it? I've just found out that I am due £28.10 in rent for each of the last six years (Statute of Limitations Act applies) and the regional electricity company will buy out the wayleave by paying the next 20 years rent upfront!

Huge sudden increase from Atlantic
I just checked my bank account and my elec DD has shot up from £14 a month to £73! Rang husband who sheepishly informed that letter arrived two weeks ago but he thought it was just a round robin so ignored. The letter says that they estimate we are using more electricity than £14 - it's an estimate, mind! - so they are…

How much have energy prices risen?
I've just had a letter from npower saying I've not paid enough so my monthly DD is going up. Last year I was paying £35 a month for gas and elec, but this has gone up to £54. I have switched to npower juice which is a bit more than the scotish power I was on, but does that sound about right for a 2 bed flat? It seems a lot…

Time To Switch
Now Powergen has increased its rates, I'm changing my review to 'Time To Switch'.... the only one left to go with a big rate rise expected is Ebico (could be a 15%-25% rise within 2 months at a guess) so I think nows the time. The good news is more cashback is available if you switch now than before. Im currently rewriting…

Track your bill. Be prepared for winter
I started entering my readings onto my scottish power dual fuel online account. You get an instant bill and you can tell if you need to increase the dd before autumn comes Two weeks ago I changed GU10 ceiling lights, 10 so far from 50w each to 3w each. Ok it is a different light but hey, I can live with it. I have bought…

Is direct debit really the best way to pay for BG?
2 years ago my monthly direct debit payment for gas to BG was £32. It has risen to £45.50 As usual, the summer tends to balance out the winter and I find I get a sizeable refund from BG once a year. But - they never seem to automatically lower the monthly payments, just automatically raise them and give refunds later. So…

NPower give in over prepayment charges
Thought everyone would like to know that NPower have now decided that I do NOT owe them nearly £300 as they first insisted. It happened like this. in order to switch to a cheaper supplier I had to have my prepayment meter removed and a normal meter installed. I had this done and shortly afterwards NPower sent me two bills,…
