Wayleaves

Options
Do you have an electricity pole or stay on your land? Are you being paid rent (a wayleave) for it?

I've just found out that I am due £28.10 in rent for each of the last six years (Statute of Limitations Act applies) and the regional electricity company will buy out the wayleave by paying the next 20 years rent upfront!

How do I find out more about this, I've a pole in my garden and would like a donation from the electricity company.

I also have a pole and a stay in the garden and get paid annually for both. You need to contact your Regional Electricity co., they will have a wayleave department which handles the payments.

For example, here in Nottinghamshire ours is Central Networks Wayleave Department, previously East Midlands Electricity.

I've checked the pole in my garden and it carries the telephone and electricity wires from the pole in the road via this pole to my house so does the wayleave still apply as it's only carrying wires to my house?
  • Hi. My query about wayleaves is a little different.
My son has recently purchased a house with a BT pole with phone lines and electricity cables attached to it.
The pole is about 2 yards for the house and the electricity cable is lying accross his roof.
How does he get the pole moved to another part of the garden? Where does he find evidence of any legal wayleave for the pole to be there in the first place?
Any info or suggestions would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks Dave.
