I started entering my readings onto my scottish power dual fuel online account. You get an instant bill and you can tell if you need to increase the dd before autumn comes
Two weeks ago I changed GU10 ceiling lights, 10 so far from 50w each to 3w each. Ok it is a different light but hey, I can live with it. I have bought the bulbs to change 9 more. Total watts will now be 57 instead of 950
I also increased my dd because I haven`t got my head in the sand re energy costs this winter and suddenly I have a nice excess in my sp account. I don`t care if sp hold the excess because it means that I won`t get a very nasty bill after winter
It is an excellent feeling to be in control. Try it

It would appear my opening monthly DD from for my new supplier has been set to the £24 (I estimate it should be £50+). As an alternative to upping the DD, I shall be paying £30/month into a high interest savings account, so I can, at least, turn this minor (;)) underestimate to my advantage.0
