Credit scores: Relative or absolute?
Are the scores generated by the credit agency agencies relative to the scores of others or are they absolute? If I maintain my credit/financial behaviour but others pay down their credit balances, for example, and their scores increase would that then lead to my score decreasing (if that makes sense). Am I purely scored by…

I am in my final few months of a DMP with Payplan and so have started taking steps to confirm balances with my creditors. I have been back and forth with Orange over the last few weeks to no avail. I'm currently looking to apply for my first credit card (primarily as a way of strengthening my credit score, but secondly to earn a bit of cash back). I have had a CC debt in collections for two years following a dispute, one I just need to move on from. As the debt has been in collections for two years and my credit score is ruined anyway, should I pay off the amount to partially settle (zero balance) or should I pay the whole amount. My thinking if its going to take…
