Clearscore keeping data for 10 years?

You will only be able to see your accounts in this section if the provider shares information with the credit reference agency and often very old accounts, such as those more than 10 years old, don't appear on a credit report.

Has this changed from 6 years?

That is not what they are saying. Accounts that are more than 10 years old, although currently open, may not be reported as they are likely opened before data sharing became the norm and the operator will likely not have permission to share that current data.

It's actually a myth that they can't report you with consent. They can, and some organisations do. I'm not sure why they say they can't. It's maybe to suggest you have some sort of say in the process, which of course you don't.

If it is a myth that they cannot report without my consent why is my oldest bank account and credit card not reported by any of Experian, Equifax or call credit?

I can see some information going back about 10 years, for instance on an account closed in 2011.

Because the providers choose not to do so, but there is - apparently - nothing stopping them.

    Thanks for your response.

I have had my main bank account and credit card for over 40 years but they appear to be invisible to Experian.

I recently used Experian for the Gov Verify process online and they asked for details of my bank account. I duly entered my bank account number and Experian said that this account was not recognised as mine. I subsequently entered an account opened last year and this was fine.

I also have a negative mark on my credit report because my oldest credit account is not very old. I have in fact had an active credit card since 1978.
