Credit Cards - Applications via Website
When you apply online for a card and then get the "we will let you know in 7 - 10 days" does anyone know what they actually do to further evaluate your application that they can't do there and then and give an instant decision. Preumably an unacceptable application would get an instant rejection. Thanks...just interested.

Credit Card debt after death
Sorry for the "miserable" topic but I wanted to ask a question regarding my late mothers credit card debt. My mother died in June leaving around £6000 worth of debt on a credit card. Since then my brother has been making payments but we were wondering whether we were responsible for it really or could it be written off?…

Credit Card Transaction Fees / Supplementary Charges
The company that I want to book a holiday with have a "supplementary charge" of 2.5% when booking with a credit card. Obviously I want the protection of using a CC but don't want the holiday to cost an extra £100 (yes it is a 'special' holiday!). I don't mind paying a fee if a credit card payment costs them extra but this…

Cancelling Cleared Credit Cards
I recently cleared 4 credit cards (which had come to an end from their 0% offer and were charging high interest rate) using cash from the sale of my car. The total was around £4000. I am slightly confused whether I should cancel these cards as I have no plan in using them but I read in the past it can effect my credit…

Overpaying my CC while using Direct Debit
Hello. I'm currently paying off a balance on my credit card by making the minimum payment by Direct Debit each month. From January I'll be able to make additional payments each month. Now, on the CC statements it says that the direct debit will normally reflect additional payments received. So I'm guessing that this means…

Catalogue company reducing limits
Why do catalogue companies keep increasing your limit, then when you order something suddenly take it away? I have been with JD Williams for about 8 months. My limit was £900 and my balance was £167. I ordered a dryer for £297 and when I checked the status of my order online it said I am over my limit and can't order…

I think I might of gone over by credit limit—should I let my bank know
I think I may of gone over my CC limit but only by about £5-10 as the items haven't yet appeared on my online statement I can't say for sure. I know if I go over I get a penalty and it affects my credit score as I did it by accident a few years back. Am I best just ringing my bank and letting them know—are they likely to…

If you ask your credit card company for a limit increase and they refuse, is there a chance they could then reduce your limit to ensure you don't max it out?
