in Credit cards
My mum has just received a call from a clothing warehouse as they have received an order to be delivered to her address for £600+ to be paid for via credit (visa) card. The guy at the warehouse was suspicious as the name of the person it was being delivered to was very different to my mums.
Now here's the problem. my mum has 1 Visa debit card and 1 Mastercard. The guy at the warehouse has given her the long n umber that goes across the middle of the card and it does not correspond with any of my mums cards.
The guy at the store says that the card is registered to my mum and this is how he traced her telephone number in order to contact her about this transaction.
This all seems very fishy to me and could be somebody fishing for information in the hope that they may be able to get the actual correct card details from my mum.
Is there any way of finding out who this card has been issued by, and who the card is registered to?

[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

Did your mum get the contact details for the person calling her so that she could call him back 'at a better time' or something?
Your mum might want to run a credit check on herself to see if there are any credit cards in her name/address etc. that she is unaware of.0 -
Did he try to get your Mum to give out any of her financial details / personal info? Did she get the company name? Did she tell him anything that could be 'useful' to him if he is a fraudster?
Worth her getting her credit reports (you can get free trials online or request by post for £2each)A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -

Contact the card company. Cancel the card and get a new one.

Did your mum write the number down? If so she could contact the card company herself to make it clear she has never applied for this card (if it indeed exists).
I am not sure why the warehouse would have your mum's phone number, or why a fraudster would have the goods delivered to her address, so am inclined to the theory that someone was trying to get her to give out her card details. Hopefully she did not give any information anyway.
These things are worrying so I hope all turns out well.
ETA have just read that he traced her number, so I assume she is in the phone book.0
