Chieque passing its sell-by date
" Cheues are not accepted here". I see it in petrol stations and I believe more than one supermarket chain will not accept cheques in payment. I can see that the traders lose the chore of accounting and paying in, but does the withdrawal worry anyone? Is the day of the cheque passing?

I've recently got a new debit card from Lloyds TSB and appear to have been able to make purchases with it in the shops and online. However, it seems that on the internet banking, none of these purchases have shown up in the online statement as amounts debited from my account, although in the total of these purchases seems…

BBC says: "Non-Muslims snap up Islamic accounts"
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/6168800.stm I suspect this is just some ultra-trendy friend of the journalist. The number of non-Muslims with these accounts is in all likelihood vanishingly small. It makes good PC copy for the BBC though. Hmm, there might be other reasons for that, as Malaysia is an Islamic state…

Card swallowed before Xmas
How about this for really awful service. I just went to my local Tesco petrol station to withdraw money from my RBS account via the RBS hole in the wall situated there.
