    Thank you
so Natwest is not a building society....
  • Nope...its one of the biggest banks around.

You specifically looking at opening a current account at a building society?
  • Thank you
so Natwest is not a building society....

    And never has been.

Although, to make things confusing, NatWest came about from a merger between the National Provincial Bank and Westminster Bank about 40-odd years ago, from memory.

And there used to be a completely unrelated building society called the National & Provincial, which was taken over by Abbey National in the nineties.

But no, in answer to your question, NatWest isn't a building society and never has been. If there's a 'plc' in there, it's not a building society.
Everyone needs something to believe in.

I believe I need another beer.
  • ... and if theres such uncompetitive products in their as Natwest's it isn't a building society either (usually)
