Alternative current account while reclaiming bank charges?

Hi everyone,

I'm about to go after the Alliance and Leicester to reclaim charges and so need to set up another current in case they close mine down. Does anyone have any tips about which bank to chose?? I've had a look around but they all seem to be accounts which require me to pay in £1000 per month (ie halifax, nationwide etc) and to switch my salary and direct debits into it. Obviously I won't be doing any of this as at this stage its just a precationary measure! When you try and apply online they seem to automatically take you down the account switching route - any ideas???
