Talktalk final bill scam
Hello all I ended my contract with TalkTalk on 20th August 2018. Unfortunately, the bill cycle was 17th - 18th, meaning that there are three days left unpaid for in August. TalkTalk have told me I have to pay for a full month and that I will receive a 'credit' later. This is useless to me as I intend never to use TalkTalk…

NOW Broadband sign up... little confusing
anyone else gone through the sign up process for NOW Broadband through the latest deal? It's a little confusing as everything within the account refers to NOW TV and there's no mention of me signing up to broadband. I then get an email saying... just a few things to finish setting up your account, but when I click on the…

John Lewis broadband
What is peoples' experience of John Lewis broadband/phone service? And will I notice a huge difference between the 36mb and the approximate 48mb I currently get with BT? Obviously, I'm looking around in light of the BT price increase. They're £27 odd including anytime calls, against the best I've been offered by BT at…

Vodafone/Bt Issue
Hey all, So I recently bought a house and moved in 2 weeks ago. In preparation I took out a broadband connection so that it would be activated just after moving in to the house. Background: May - took out the order with Vodafone with date as far in future and possible June - Change date to exact date moving in giving 8…

Incorrect line takeover causes business loss. Is there any other way to get compensation?
Hoping someone may be able to offer advice on if there are any other avenues left to explore in terms of getting compensation from Vodafone. A very condensed summary is: We live above a business (which we also operate) and have a consumer line for the home and a business line for the attached business. A consumer phone and…

Virgin Price Hike - 31% increase since beginning of year
Just got the email about the £3/month increase - but my bill has already gone from £41/month and will now be £54 (31% increase) - rising to £59 in Feb (44%) - as all discounts end. I'm not currently in a contract but just had long chat and they wouldn't offer me anything except £30 cashback but that tied me into a new…

BT threatening early cancellation charges
I purposely registered on this forum to share with you the most recent appalling experience with BT following Martin's As BT hikes prices... how EVERYONE can try to slash b'band & line costs article on the 4th July newsletter. My mother-in-law is an OAP and on the lower side of the household income spectrum. I helped her…

Stuck with Virgin Media Price Hike - Virgin Monopoly
Hello, In the MSE weekly email today there was a warning about Virgin Media increasing their prices yet again. I have been with them for a year and two months now and this is the second time they have increased their prices. As I have been with them for over a year my introductory offer has run out too meaning that I now…

BT end contract switch question - charge avoidance
Any help appreciated.... I am close to the end of my BT fibre contract but am struggling to find information as to when I can switch without incurring an early termination charge and also without rolling over into the next month with the huge jump in cost. So - my 12 month introductory package is up for renewal on 3rd…

Want to switch fibre provider but they're all showing up as unavailable.
Hello all. My contract with Virgin is coming to an end. I wanted to switch my fibre broadband over, but every company I try other than BT shows up as not available in my area. I am pretty sure when I did this last year they were all available, and BT currently is, so what gives? It really limits my options if I can't join…

New socket - already has phoneline
Hi, I'm new to MSE, as I am trying to find some help for my Mum. She lives in a warden council apartment, so already has a phoneline, but would like to have broadband. For what I can see she doesn't have a socket, and we don't want to break the current setup. So, my questions are, does she need a phoneline installed -…

changeing cable suppliers.
Hi I have my phone and BB with Virgin and want to change asap. Stupid question: do i have to get a new "supply" cable installed or can I just get the new company to use the existing set up, as per gas and electric?

Problems trying to switch from BT Fibre
Hi, I’m trying to switch from expensive BT Fibre deal before September 16th (after which I will be locked in) and despite MSF Broadband Unbundled tool giving me lots of alternative options, no alternative provider is actually able to provide fibre. The reason I have been given for this is that the ‘nodes at the local…

BT prices going up again - time to say goodbye
My quarterly bill for BT broadband and phone is around £50 a month (no inclusive calls) and they're putting up their costs again soon (as you all know). A 5 minute phone call during the day to another phone code area, although only a mile down the road is £1. Phone hardly ever gets used - 1 call a week made from it. Enough…

Anyone used them? What are they like? I see they have reasonable costs once out of the minimum term contact.

Which Broadband & TV bundle
I am currently with Virgin Media (Big Easy Bundle) paying £45 per month and they have just emailed to say this is increasing by £3 from October (which I don't want to pay) but I am really confused by all the deals on offer. I have Superfibre 50 and 70 TV channels which gives average download speed of 54 MpBS - I also have…

Who's your Broadband Provider and how do you find them?
What provider are you with and how are you finding the service in terms of up time and reliability? I find it impossible to read about providers on line because the only reviews are because someone has an issue. Currently I'm with Virgin Media and it's been very reliable. My issue is their customer service, the fact that…

Broadband Speed
All. I've just read the main article about the new advertising of broadband speeds to be those of an average in an area. I naively, perhaps, expected a line capability test to be direct to the router? My ISP, and indeed their competitors, advertise my download capability at 80Mbps - that is using both my postcode and my…

Any PAYG data SIMs with credit that doesn't expire?
I'm looking for a 4G data SIM to use with a portable wifi unit, for those (many) occasions when my home broadband goes down. Ideally I'd like to buy a few GB of credit, and have that credit always available to be used - i.e. it will not expire after 30 days. Can anyone recommend a provider for this?
