New socket - already has phoneline

Hi,
I'm new to MSE, as I am trying to find some help for my Mum.
She lives in a warden council apartment, so already has a phoneline, but would like to have broadband. For what I can see she doesn't have a socket, and we don't want to break the current setup.
So, my questions are, does she need a phoneline installed - Broadband providers have said no.
If not, how do I get a new socket installed for her to plug the router into.
Thanks for your advise

You will need to ask the council as they own the flat and probably supply the phone line as well.0

Can you describe what her current phone plugs into please? Follow the cable from the phone to the wall...0

No you should need any work doing by anyone.
Just plug in the filter provided0 -
As I have stated, she does not yet have a socket. The current phone line in goes to the 'help system', there is no where to plug a filter/router in etc.
Mister G thank you, I will contact the council with her there.0 -
If the current 'phoneline', isn't really a phoneline, just some council provided system that allows the occupant to contact the warden or similar, then obviously that system isn't likely to be able to provide broadband, and certainly not from regular providers like Sky, or BT etc, does this 'phone' have dialtone when you pick the handset up, or does it immediately connect to a ( for example) helpline .
If there is dialtone, what happens if you dial 17070 ?
If the council have no restrictions on residents having a phoneline installed , you would have to arrange getting a regular phone line installed from a provider , Sky , TT , BT or whoever, and get broadband added to that new phoneline , you could get a simultaneous provide ,where both services become active on the same date, or perhaps the line is installed and broadband activated later , this can vary depending on provider, but obviously you would need a regular phone line to get regular broadband, ADSL or VDSL0 -

As I thought, when you stated warden controlled council flat.
It's therefore quite likely that you will need council permission for a new install.
However, do shop around for the best value provider. Some may well waive the initial install costs (£60 or more) just to get your business.0
