Just got the email about the £3/month increase - but my bill has already gone from £41/month and will now be £54 (31% increase) - rising to £59 in Feb (44%) - as all discounts end. I'm not currently in a contract but just had long chat and they wouldn't offer me anything except £30 cashback but that tied me into a new contract.
So BT or Sky are my best options from research previously - but need a very reliable service as work from home - apparently I use 500GB/month (upload and download). TV basic package and low phone usage. Any thoughts?

That's not actually a 31% price increase though, your discounts merely ended. Check out the following threads for advice:

Note that Virgin are quite happy to let high users leave.0 -

If the speed available from providers like BT or Sky is acceptable, ( presumably you have access to OR FTTC if you are considering get rid of VM) then there is no reason why their service would be less reliable than VM's service , in my case I had VM broadband and moved to Infinity 2 and there is no decernable difference in my day to day usage, if anything I had to power cycle to VM router more often than I do with the BT one, (if things appear slow or unresponsive)0 -

In that case you need a business service with service level agreements .
BT Business account etc .
Or go with someone like Zen or A&A for better CS .0
