Cancelling and re-booking Sky broadband for Avios! Is this fraud?
Hi All, I recently signed up for Sky broadband at a good price and was very happy (due to be installed at the end of this month). I then discovered that if I had ordered via the Avios website, I would have received a massive 6000 Avios points for new customers. I called up Sky and asked if the points could be…

Getting Broadband for elderly relative
Okay...my great aunt (97 and still going strong!) has decided to purchase a Smart TV (after visiting me and seeing mine). TV has been purchased, but I am still working on helping her to figure out what would be suitable from a broadband perspective. She is currently with BT, so it may be easier to negotiate with them and…

TalkTalk - How were you notified of increase?
Hi, Just wondering how you were informed of the talktalk price increase if you have online billing? I received an email earlier in the year notifying me of the first price increase but I didn't have another one for the Oct price increase. I got in touch with them on the online chat service today as I noticed online that…

TT incorrect charges and online chat
Well I knew I should have listened to all you fine people at the start. TT have only gone and lied about a half price discount for the full 18 months of my contract. Little background: Spoke to TT last year about taking on a contract iwht them - we needed umlinited BB, anytime calls. Through out the call, the advisor went…

TALK TALK charging a termination fee, after notification within 30 days of price rise
Been having a LOT of trouble with Talk Talk over the past 10 month, so when the SKY offer appeared on here I jumped at the chance. TALK TALK emailed me regarding the price rises on 7th September I notified TALK TALK of my intention to cancel on 16th September so I notified them well within the 30 days (I sent the following…

Plusnet are rubbish! Any good alternatives?
Hi all, Ive been having massive problems with Plusnet recently. The past 3 months my connection has reduced to a crawl. When I phone Plusnet I get kept waiting on the phone for 30+ minutes (no matter what time I phone); their Instant Messaging thing on their site is only open during working hours (when Im working so cant…

BT BB switch nightmare
I stupidly decided to switch broadband and landline from Talktalk to BT, mainly because the Talktalk broadband was constantly dropping. Went through all the usual checks with BT online - they said they could take over the line without anyone needing to visit, retain the number and it would take 2 weeks, so I placed the…

Cancelling BT sign up from last week and then signing up with this week's offer?
I have had lots of problems with reliability with our standard Broadband, with TalkTalk and EE. So have decided to change to Fibre (we both work from home via VPN so need reliable connections). Last week i signed up to BT as it was cheapest when taking into account he £75 Sainsbury's voucher and the cashback via…

BT broadband - at the end of my tether
I have spent about 5 ours on the phone already to BT to get broadband installed (it is for a newbuild, so I understand that not everything is always ready). I've had OpenReach connect the house and put in an OpenReach point. That was done two weeks ago and the engineer said that I should give it 1 working day and they will…

Sky Fibre Upgrade-Do I need their router ?
We already have Sky Broadband and a fairly recent Sky hub router. I recently placed an upgrade order for Sky Fibre and was told I would need to pay £ 30 activation fee and I think a delivery charge for the equipment. I anticipated the equipment would be different to what I already had with them but it arrived today and…

Talk Talk - disgusting customer service
I'm utterly livid. I've just moved house, and despite Talk Talk trying to tie me into a new 18 month contract, I negotiated and got them to continue my existing contract. Turns out they were outright lying to me. After an exhorbitant wait to get my broadband connected, a quick speed check showed what looked suspiciously…

MSE News: Urgent. £5.35 for a year's Sky line rental and broadband - Sky Scam?
Hi I have had trouble with this deal which I signed up to. Sky lost my number and did not request this from my previous provider and did not credit my account with £100. They advised me that as the deal had expired they would instead give me 12 months free line rental + £1.60 credit to make up for this. As it amounted to…

Moved from BT to Sky via MSE code
Hi To say i'm hopping mad is an understatement. We decided to use the code as per the MSE site, for the sky broadband & talk offer a few weeks ago. Did everything on-line (as you do), filled everything in to make a 'simple' switch. All going to plan, had the router delivered showing a connection date of 5th October…

BT Cancellation
I've recently cancelled my BT Broadband and phone package. I agreed a cancellation date of 6th Oct but was told I still have to give them 30 days notice, which meant I will be paying for services up to 28th Oct. Am I wrong in thinking I should have access to the services up to 28th Oct, as it appears my broadband has been…

Virgin not taking speed complaint seriously
Hi everyone, I hope this is the right place to put this. To cut a long story short, I've been paying for Virgin Broadband 100MB+, TV & Phone for about 2years now. Around 12mnths+ i started having bad connectiong problems and had numerous engineers out who basically said there was no issues and everything should be fine. I…
