Fibre for gaming
I'm looking at getting fibre for gaming. I live in an area where currently only 1.5mb to 2mb is possible, however I know it's not the mb when it comes to gaming, but the ping. Plusnet does a fibre package for £21.49 which you can pay another £5pm which removes the traffic shaping. Does anyone else offer a package without…

leaving talk talk...
I'm considering leaving talk talk, who we have the tv package with, and moving to virgin. (with someone else taking over as the named person). Just wondered if anyone had any experience, and could give advice as to what to expect, any thing that might help really. I was reading in the 'cheap broadband' section about…

Broadband technophobe!
I am trying to sort out getting a computer for a young mum and haven't a clue! Machine itself not an issue, but she needs to be able to get internet access for her daughter. As she does not have a landline, how does she go about getting access using mobile, what additional kit (if any) does she need.? What are the costs…

Welsh broadband support scheme
I live in the wilds of Wales in a broadband not spot. I was delighted to hear about the Welsh broadband support scheme. This means that the Welsh Assembly Government should pay my set up costs for a satellite broadband connection. However, I am finding it difficult to find a company that can actually provide this for me.…

Getting broadband offers every year
Each year, in order to get cashback, we switch gas/electric providers. Sometimes, the best deal is at the same provider, in which case we change the name of the person signing up between the two of us living in this house, so that it is a new contract. This has worked fine for many years. My question is this. Does anyone…

Cancelling from Virgin Media - help needed please :)
So I'm going to cancel. Tomorrow I'm going to phone up and try to do it, do the big leap! I have all the evidence, Virgin have increase my bills by £1.50 and so they'll let me cancel as it breaches their Terms and Conditions. Ok, the price increase isn't why I'm cancelling, it's the slow service I've been getting, but…

Advice from you clever people please...
We currently have a virgin broadband and tv package costing about £40 a month. In the interests of money saving I was looking at getting rid of the v+ box and buying a recordable freeview box instead. However- we still need decent broadband (3G not good enough) also we don't have a landline- and don't really want one! So…

Left without broadband by Virgin media
Our broadband stopped working on Tuesday but I had a migraine so did nothing about it till Thursday. I rang Virgin and was told by "Michael" - doubt that was his real name as his accent didn't sound like he'd be called Michael - that it was a fault in our area and would be up and running by 8.30 that night. On Saturday at…

A daft question about broadband and phone line
Question a friend asked me. They have a phone line which they don't use and which has been disconnected. They insist this phone line is owned by BT and that for them to get broadband only they also need to pay BT for the phone line rental. Is this right?

Plusnet Broadband, Home Phone, & Topcashback - ends today
Hello all I wasn't sure if I should put this here or on the Grabbit board, so I've done both. Hope this is ok. Topcashback are offering £50.50 cashback to anyone taking out a broadband + home phone package with Plusnet before the end of today. I've gone ahead and taken the plunge, and I hope it might be of use to someone…
