No
Provided you continue to use it -it stays active.
Before you cancel have a word with cancellations at Sky though-there are some nice offers around at the moment from that particular department .I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Thanks for the advice. I have actually tried to cancel before, about 2 years ago and they convinced me to stay by giving me a 50% discount for 6 months, not sure I would be lucky a second time!0 -
Try it, ring them!.0

I'm in the process of trying to haggle a deal through retentions at Virgin, have spoken to several people, all have told me what a fanstastic service Virgin provide etc etc, and what an awful service Sky supply (surprise, surpise) they also told me how much actual broadband I use every month, the figure given seemed way over what I thought I use, hence I'm nowkeeping a close eye on this, if only to slam this down there throat
on one occasion I was told I would lose my email account,:mad:
although I thought at the time she was trying to put the frighteners on me to stay with Virgin and not cancel
as was the case with the figure for actual broadband useage etc
I'd be vert interested to know if this is actually correct ????
do you lose your actual email account ????0 -
No - I still use a SKY email after 2 years - periodically I go on the sky website - but I access it in the mail via hotmail.
BEWARE:
I Moved from Sky/BT/Orange a couple of years back to Virgin - the full package - TV, Broadband & Landline in a consolidation & costcutting exercise.
I have to say - their broadband is 2nd to none.
Plus I do like the Tivo box we moved to last Sept/Oct.
BUT the prices have crept up & up, and now they tell me they are adding a further £4 (yes - I know its only £4!) to my monthly bill - this will take it to around £62 a month - excluding any "stray peak calls",and I DONT EVEN HAVE SPORTS OR MOVIES!
I have a Tivo box, an extra box upstairs, XL TV, Evening & Weekend Calls, L Broadband, + Phone line rental. (Plus As Part of the Tivo deal _ I'm on loyalty discount of £8 month until Oct! taking me down to £57) - by Oct I'll be paying £70 !! - HELP !!!0 -
Set up a Gmail account, that way you'll never have to worry about it. Sky email is provided by Gmail anyway, so the layout is exactly the same.0

You will probably be able to receive for some time, but you wouldn't be able to send from that address through the new VM server.
As suggested above, GMail is the answer-takes 10 mins to set that up and then you are ISP independent forever. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
You wont lose your Sky email address as long as you keep using it.Sky Email equals life email. If you cancel your subscription to Sky Broadband or Sky TV you will still be able to keep your Sky Email address. Life email guaranteed.
As long as you continue to use the account, we'll keep it active. It's that simple.0 -
Hi guys,
Well, I just made the call...
We were paying £53 per month (£20.50 TV, £10.10 HD - only upgraded to HD as old box was knackered and they offered us £100 M&S vouchers and a new box - £10 Unlimited broadband and £12.25 line rental)
I argued that we don't watch HD channels (always forget!) Happy to watch freeview so no need for TV package. Very lovely lady offered to reduce broadband to £7.50 (same unlimited) remove HD and keep tv at £20.50 but give us phone line rental free or a year making our monthly payment now £28... yes thank you lovely lady!
One happy sky customer :j0
