Problems with O2 and Vista
Hello, I am currently with O2 broadband, and while it is ok on my XP laptop (albeit rather slow), we are having terrible trouble with my OH's laptop which is running Vista. The connection keeps dropping and he will have to reconnect several times in a 5 min period. However, when he uses this laptop at a friends house with…

Why do BT staff lie to their customers
4 times in the last 3 months I have had Bt customer service staff lie to me. They are clearly told to put the blame any faults on the customers own equipment and have no intention of delivering on any promises they make. Why when there are other providers available do they offer such appalling customer service? Anybody got…

O2 too expensive for me
I have my MAC code but I am so restricted to my choice of broadband where I live. Apparantly it is because my exchanged has not been 'unbundled'. Plusnet looks a bargain but I have read mixed reviews. I would really like to change to O2, but after checking my postcode etc they came up with a price of £22.02 per month! Any…

BT retentions
Just phoned for my MAC code (want sky!!! :D ) and the offer seems really good in honesty. 9.25 a month line rental plus free eve/weekend calls 7.20 a month broadband with 10GB dl limit, plus it will be upgraded in April to a 20MB line (well I know not to bank on that, but still) I currently pay around £27 for these two.…

Talk Talk more for less
If in the past you subscribed to Talk Talks security package (Fsecure) for one computer you are paying £2.49 a month. If you un-subscribe and re-subscribe for up to 3 computers then it will be £2.00 a month. Like a building society - they won't tell you but I just found out having got another computer. Mind you…

Virgin issues again today?
Anyone using virgin broadband experiencing problems today? I have no downloadable email, I can't access web mail at all and my general browsing is slow. I've checked the status page but as usual it shows no issues , but then when my area had a 3 day blackout last year they still didn't report that as an issue. If others…

Just released: Free Microsoft security suite.
Hi everybody, I'm new. :waves: At 5pm last night Microsoft released a full internet security suite, you know, the software that protects us against viruses etc. This means nobody needs to buy Norton, Kaspersky, etc, or use that other free one Avast (never felt comfortable with that one). Anyway, It's called MICROSOFT…

SKY Broadband - 10MG - Erm no...
Hoping fellow money-savers can help me with this one - I live in Central London and have had Sky Broad-Band for 2 years. I pay an extra £5 per month for up to 10MBs. Over the past four months I have been monitoring my band-width and it has averaged just over 2.4MB (bearing in mind below 2MB there is no extra charge). Since…

Virgin broadband - customer service
Got Virgin broadband today as it seemed to be the cheapest deal all-in, but customer service seems poor. you have to call them up to activate it, which it doesnt actually tell you in the booklet. The message at the beginning of the call said they were busy and expect a 10 minute wait, but it was actually 1 hour of…

Virgin or Sky, unsure
I am moving and debating to stay with virgin or move to Sky. the area we move to doesn't have virgin though the fibre optic cables it's adsl instead. so i just really wanted other folks opinions of these 2 company's. oh and virgin charge me £5 month for not paying direct debit.

Adsl2+
Just a quick note to remind people to check their local exchange to see if they are in an area that is covered by the new technology. It comes straight down your phone line just like normal ADSL but is basically twice as fast and the best part is that it doesn't cost any more than normal ADSL and works with most modern…

cancelling sky broadband/tv/phone
I phoned Sky today to cancel their tv and keep and upgrade their phone and broadband. The first person a spoke to, in sales, told me she could do the upgrades but I would need to speak to someone else for the cancellation. She did it very quickly without saying anything, I found it very strange that she did not try to…

BT Accelerator
Just wondering if anyone has actually bought one of these? I read the advert in the paper today and it said it can increase download speeds by up to 1.5MBits from what you would normally expect. This seems like a rather wild claim for something that basically plugs into your phone socket so I did some research. Apparently…
