Problems with O2 and Vista

Hello,
I am currently with O2 broadband, and while it is ok on my XP laptop (albeit rather slow), we are having terrible trouble with my OH's laptop which is running Vista.
The connection keeps dropping and he will have to reconnect several times in a 5 min period. However, when he uses this laptop at a friends house with a different broadband provider, or with his mobile dongle (not O2), he has no trouble connecting to the internet, so we assume it is an O2 problem.
I phoned O2 for advice and they said they would change the frequency of the router (an O2 wireless box II), but it hasn't helped. I was wondering if anyone had had a similar problem or can advise on what it may be?
Also, we're thinking of leaving O2 so I was wondering if anyone could advise on a great broadband provider with no limits as we use the internet a lot?
TIA

Have you tried connecting the laptop to the o2 router with a standard ethernet (network) cable and seeing what performance is like?
If performance is fine via this method, then o2 is ok, but there is an issue with the wireless access. I have seen cases where wireless performance is impaired by the environment around the router (building walls etc).
IMO o2 are one of the better ISPs.0 -
I had the same issue with o2 getting wifi drop-outs, they changed the channel on the router and I repositioned it away from other electrical items and it resolved the problem. Try using the ethernet to determine if its the wifi or the router itself if its the wifi reposition the router and give it a try, still no joy call c/serv and they'll work hard to fix it, IMHO they have one of the best customer service departments around so will give it their all too resolve it.0
