Just wondering if anyone has actually bought one of these?
I read the advert in the paper today and it said it can increase download speeds by up to 1.5MBits from what you would normally expect.
This seems like a rather wild claim for something that basically plugs into your phone socket so I did some research. Apparently this magic piece of kit does nothing more than reduce potential interference from internal phone wiring (extra sockets etc).
So people who have no extentions from their phone socket (or have already tried to reduce their internal interference as much as possible) will see absolutely no difference.
Seems like they need to make that a little clearer in their ads.

it does say "up to"... though if those people still have the bell wire, then it will make some improvement0

Waste of money. If you have extensions then go round and remove the bell wire from pin 3.

The broadband accelerator cuts the bell-wire and ALSO adds a noise filter... Cutting the bell-wire made no difference to my awful 1.5MB connection, so I bought one of these not expecting much and it increased my sync speed to 3.5Mb and the connection is much more stable.
I'd suggest you only really try one of these if you are on an exceptionally slow connection, and that you've already tried the bell-write trick.
Seems that some people are getting great results - and others are getting no-effect.0
