Plusnet Pro-rata Charge
Can anyone tell me what a pro-rata charge is? I'm with plusnet and just had home phone and broadband installed and assumed I would be billed for both at the same time but as far as I can see I've only been billed for broadband and have just been invoiced with a pro-rata charge for the home phone... what does this mean?…

Entitled to MAC code if in dispute with ISP?
Hi, I am in dispute with my ex-ISP, plus.net, who gave me nothing but problems and poor service. There is an amount outstanding on the account, which was incorrectly billed but try as I might they dont listen. The broadband is now disconnected but we are switching companies and they offer free broadband and my question is,…

Virgin Media warning
I have just left Virgin after being a customer for several years and moved to Sky (thank god). I had an old Telewest email address which I had still planned using temporarily whilst switching to my new Sky one. Virgin in their lovely wisdom have failed to tell me that you lose that email address when they disconnect your…

Removing a tag from the line
On Wednesday of last week we ordered UK Online and on the Friday we found out that O2 had worked on our exchange on the Thursday and could now accept us as new customers, so I rang UK Online on the Friday to cancel our broadband order. I was told that it would take 2-3 working days to remove the tag that they had put on…

Sky TV Phone and Broadband
Hi, wondered if anyone could advise? We currently have tiscali broadband and phone bundle, and don't pay extra line rental to BT, but are thinking of changing to Sky TV, phone and broadband bundle. Just been on sky website and for all sky bundles it says BT line rental is payable. Does that mean we have to sign up with BT…

Can we change from BT Business Broadband to Bt Home Broadband?
Hubby has an office upstairs so we've had Business broadband for about 8 years - his company is billed directly for this. We'd like the BT Vision TV facility that Home customers can have. Do you think I could ring BT, request this change and be successful?

BT I-Plate promises to speed up ADSL connections by up to 60%; will it work for you?
What's the deal? The 'I-Plate' made by BT sits inside your master phone socket, and speeds up your broadband by reducing interference to increase data flow. It can boost speeds by up to 60%, but for it to work, your house needs to have the right type of master socket (see pic below). How to get one cheaply:* Having…

Kingston Communications - no choice
Hi, I have a KC telephone line and am confused over whether I have to use KC for broadband or if I can go anywhere else to get it cheaper. The cheapest KC package is £8.49 for 3 months and £13 thereafter plus £30 set up fee. I feel they have a monopoly in Hull and surrounding areas.

Freedom2Surf Broadband - Existing customers get free regrade.
If, like me, you use F2S for your broadband, it is worth checking their current packages to see if the equivalent package you are currently using has been improved. I am on their "Lite" 8mb service with a 5GB cap. I just looked at their website and they have changed the package to a 10GB cap and reduced the price by £1…

BT Broadban Cancellation
I have just moved out of my flat and tried to cancel my BT phone line & broadband. The girl at BT said as I had taken out a 12month contract I have to pay until next September 09. I asked if I could pay a one off cancellation fee but was told I had to stick to my contract. £24.95 x 10 months plus line rental. I know I took…

first time internet provider
Hi My mum and dad have just bought their first PC and I was wondering what would be the best way to connect them to the internet. Their land line is with BT and they are currently classed as low users, and get some discount. Is there still Pay as you go or is it just broadband now. I can't really see them spending hours on…

Virgin Media Dispute
Hi, About two months ago I contacted Virgin to cancel my contract as I was moving house. I got through and categorically confirmed I wanted to cancel the deal. However, as I was on a mobile, my battery ran out before I could speak to the 'disconnections dept'. The operator, though, confirmed she understood I was phoning to…

Free Laptops - Credit Checks?!
Hey I'm interested in taking up the free laptop offers that are on currently in PC World, I know it's not the best deal out there (before anyone jumps in with the "you pay more for the laptops/broadband etc etc") but was wondering, do they do a credit check? I don't have a great credit file and don't want to even chance it…
