Removing a tag from the line

On Wednesday of last week we ordered UK Online and on the Friday we found out that O2 had worked on our exchange on the Thursday and could now accept us as new customers, so I rang UK Online on the Friday to cancel our broadband order.

I was told that it would take 2-3 working days to remove the tag that they had put on the line as the order hadn't fully gone through at the point of cancellation, so wouldn't take the full 10 working days. I rang them again today to see if it had been removed, unfortunately it hadn't.

They said since we requested the cancellation on the Friday, removing the tag on the line didn't start until the Monday and the tag won't be removed until the 30th. (9 working days)

I need the tag removed ASAP as I need broadband by the end of next week. Surely it doesn't actually take 9 days to remove a tag from the line? Would ringing up and asking for it to be removed sooner help?

A tag can be removed straight away because thats all it is a tag. however it is often quoted as a tag when its not.
If you have been told it takes more than 24 hours to remove then it is not a tag it is either live broadband or an order for broadband waiting to be cancelled.
Sounds like this is the case for yourself (live broadband or live order)and all you can do is wait for the line to clear.
