Plusnet Pro-rata Charge

Can anyone tell me what a pro-rata charge is?
I'm with plusnet and just had home phone and broadband installed and assumed I would be billed for both at the same time but as far as I can see I've only been billed for broadband and have just been invoiced with a pro-rata charge for the home phone... what does this mean?
Probably something really obvious but my brain really isn't switched on today.

pro rata means they have charged you for part of the usual billing period at the equivalent rate.
So if you've only had the service half a month, then they will only charge you half the normal rate for a full month etc.0 -
