Entitled to MAC code if in dispute with ISP?

Options
Hi,

I am in dispute with my ex-ISP, plus.net, who gave me nothing but problems and poor service.

There is an amount outstanding on the account, which was incorrectly billed but try as I might they dont listen.

The broadband is now disconnected but we are switching companies and they offer free broadband and my question is, even though I am in dispute with plus.net am I still entitled to a MAC code or can they withhold it?

Also, if the broadband has been disconnected for a few months, do I even need to get a MAC code?

  • Hi deepindebtor,

I'm sorry to hear about the hassle and poor service, would there be any chance you can PM me your username so I can investigate this and sort the charges out for you?

With regard to a MAC key, unless the broadband is still active on your line we won't be able to send you this I'm afraid - there needs to be an active service to migrate. If the service is no longer there then your chosen ISP will be able to start a new one for you.

    Regards,

  • I guess its good of you to offer but really its far too late for that I am afraid, there is a lot of bad blood between me and your company.

I dont want to go into it all on this forum but needless to say it wasnt a happy time.

One point that I do want to make.

Every internet company allows communication via email, yours doesnt and please DONT fudge the issue saying that you can login to the control centre.

What happens if you cant login? If YOU removed the account by accident? The phone support was awful hence why things needed to be spelled out. I ended up having to write a snail mail letter, even then it didnt get sorted out.

Your company is awful. BT should just merge you and be done.

Anyway, rant aside, thanks for the information.
