EconomyBookings Hire Cars warning
Hello All. Thought I would share my experience when I recently booked a Spanish hire car using the brokers EconomyBookings. This was the first time I'd used EconomyBookings but I had some issues with the booking and I decided that I would use Free cancellation that was included in the package. I checked on their site and…

Chipped windscreen on hire vehicle
Hello, I recently hired a car from Enterprise without any extra costs taken out, just the rental of the vehicle. Unfortunately on the M25 a speeding vehicle threw up a stone which chipped the windscreen in the drivers vision area. I returned the car to Enterprise and made them aware of what had happened. Because I never…

Credit card use in Madeira
I’ve travelled quite a lot since retiring and always use a Nationwide credit card which has good travel rates and when asked I choose to pay in the local currency. I think this is correct? On a recent trip to Madeira I was confused by a new procedure, new to me. Sometimes I was asked to confirm I would accept the exchange…

ordering Euros cash before trip
Hello, we need to get some Euros cash prior to our holiday, I am looking to order them online for collection at a local Sainbury's. If i pay with a debit card, will they class this as a foreign exchange purchase as i am buying euros (and therefore charge the fee) or would this only be if using the card itself abroad?

If I've reported this incorrectly, please flag…

Time to get through Stansted?
Another of those impossible questions, but what would you do? I am booked on to a Ryanair flight (from Italy) scheduled to land at 18.40 on a mid-week evening early in March. There is a convenient train with an affordable advance-purchase ticket leaving Stansted at 19.30. Can I reasonably expect to catch that train, given…

Touring Vietnam/Cambodia currency question
We are travelling in three weeks time - very excited! The Dr at our travel clinic was there last year and advised us to take plenty of US$1 bills (in good condition) for tips and small purchases such as street food. Should we also take Dong for Vietnam and Riel for Cambodia, or will $s and Debit card cover all…

Stay away from Autovia / Ecovia !!!
Dear people, Please be very, very careful choosing Autovia and/or Ecovia as your rental car partner/provider. This unreliable company is claiming all kind of car damages after your rental period for which you are definitively not responsible. It occurred to me two weeks ago when I rented a Fiat 500 at the Bergamo Airport.…

BA unresponsive for refunds on cancelled flight due to unexpected surgery
I booked a flight (intended to fly Mar 2023) using vouchers from British Airways acquired during Covid time in Sep 2022. I then developed a painful foot condition that eventually needed surgery. So I cancelled the flight Nov 2022 and discussed with BA who said a partial refund was possible. Approximately £300 out of £1200.…

Newbie to Nectar / Avios
Hi, I realise the scheme can be quite complex so I would love some advice please. I have a flight to book for September to Singapore with BA from Heathrow. I haven't booked it yet because I suddenly realised that my Nectar points (a lifetime of points - 44,632 - LOL) might make my £600 return flight cheaper? I'm not sure…

Misinformation about policies leading to unnecessary charges
Hi, Last year, I had a pair of Amex BA 2-4-1 companion vouchers which I wanted to use to book family flights on BA for the summer of 2024 (late July to end of August). When I enquired about when the reward flights would become available, I was told that they are only made available 360 days prior to the departure date so…

I wonder if anyone could help me understand. I went to Turkey in 2022, and the £ was really strong against the Lira, when we ate out in Turkey, and had steak for example, the price was more expensive than the UK, ( even when the price was in Lira and we converted, leading up to the holiday we followed a few recommended…

How to avoid being ripped off by a car rental company?
Hello, I am going abroad soon and need to rent a car at the airport. I've had a few interesting experiences myself and am wondering how to avoid issues this time. Once, I booked a car at the best price I could find online through a car rental comparison site. While collecting the keys at the counter, they tried to sell me…

Being charged by car hire company after hire finished....
Rented a small car (via EasyJet) from a company called Drivalia back in June 2023, picking up at Pisa airport. The car was returned at the end of the hire with no issues reported, and the authorisation on the credit card was lifted a month later. Thought that was the end of it until *5 months* later when I spotted an…

Does anyone here work for BA? Help please!
Hi all, I'm pretty furious this morning, my girfriend and I have had 2 business class seats booked on a BA flight for 11 months, LGW to CUN. When we made the booking we selected 4J/4K (as this is an old non-Club Suite 777). A couple of months later BA changed the aircraft to a Club Suite 777 and allocated new seats that…
