Regular Savings Accounts: The Best Currently Available List!
1. Introduction Welcome to this thread. I continually edit the first few posts of this thread to keep it up-to-date. This thread is meant to complement Martin Lewis' article which you can read here: Regular Savings Accounts. I am happy for people to use this thread to discuss the regular savings accounts on this list. It…

Top Easy Access acs Ranked: Top of The Pots - **No Chat**
I've had a few suggestions/requests to start a separate 'No Chat' thread, as the ToTP list gets drowned in 'chat' in the 'Top EA discussion' thread. The aim is to maintain an easy-to-find ranked list of the c.Top 10 available to open & manage online Easy Access accounts, with links. The purpose of this thread is to ONLY…

ISA which I can fund over next 4 months?
Hello, I would like to open an instant access ISA, and transfer a maturing ISAs from previous years in November, and introduce new funds which mature in Dec and Jan. I’m worried that if I choose one like the Principality one, it will close before the other funds are available - wondered if anyone had any thoughts? I’m used…

yougov.finance bribe
It's one of these almost-too-good-to-be-true stories, but it is true. First mentioned by @Bridlington1 in the Natwest Regular Saver thread, but I reckon this deserves its own thread as it could be of interest to those who have at least 10 current, credit card and savings accounts and not everyone reads the Natwest RS…

Isa with HL
Hello, I have an s&s ISA with HL that ive had for a few years now. Currently have £40k sat in it. is it worth moving to another provider for the cheaper fees? I also have 3 junior ISAs with HL. Not sure if it’s worth moving these or not? I have seen that 212 is the cheapest but I know nothing about them. Are they “safe”? I…

How do I know if an IFA is good?
Hi my query has 2 parts - I am looking to move a pension from Prudential (1) I think I am looking for the equivalent of Tripadvisor for Financial Advisors - does this exist? I am looking for an IFA but need to know if I can trust them and the advise they give is good. I have had some recommendations from an FA that…

Why this strange daily movement in UK smallcap unit trust prices
Is anyone familiar with the pricing of smallcap unit trusts and how they relate to their underlying market? Over the past month there's been some minor divergence between these funds and the smallcap index, however today they have moved particularly violently upwards ~3% without any substantial movement in the underlying…

The Top Fixed Interest Savings Discussion Area
I'm interested in people's thoughts and recommendations for the best fixed interest accounts. With BOE interests rates recently starting to increase we have to consider the desirability of long term fixed interest savings. Since withdrawals are usually not permitted before the end of the fixed period, such general interest…

Flexible ISA and Partial Transfer
Hello I have a flexible cash ISA with Chip Bank and have deposited £10k this year but recently withdrew £5k to cover a large expense. As I understand it, I can replace the £5k funds into Chip without affecting my overall £20K allowance. I have also recently opened a flexible Trading 212 cash ISA with a better interest rate…

Bonds v bond funds
Over the years I've picked up little bits of information about bonds, but they still remain a mystery to me. This now seems to be a problem as the advice is to transition from stocks to bonds as you get older, and I wouldn't know where to start in buying bonds. Buying bond funds seems to be a way of getting around this,…

Tax-free sum ... hedging my bets
I have quite a substantial sum in my SIPP. I also have "2012 Protection" which means that as things stand today I could take out up to £450,000 tax free. Concerned as I am about Ms Reeves' intentions in next week's budget I have applied to take the full tax-free sum that I can now. Obviously if she doesn't lower or abolish…

Tax on interest savings - I haven't had a letter from HMRC
I am payed via PAYE and will need to pay a little bit of tax on interest savings for the 2023/24 tax year. I was under the impression that I would get a letter from HMRC with the amount owed and a taxcode change, but I haven't received anything. I need to fill in a self assessment for some freelance work anyway, so should…

Savings or investment for income over 4 years?
Ideally I'd like to make some income over next 4 years until baby starts school to help with only having one income. The options seem to be: 1. Fixed rate savings at about 4.2% 4% in ISA 2. Mmf funds but Sonia rate expected to drop to 3.5% next year. I only checked one website on this 3. Income funds at about 5% yield but…

Christmas Savings Accounts
Painful as it is to start thinking about next Christmas, I had a Yorkshire Bank Xmas Saver in 2023 and would like to open another this year. However, I see no sign of it today on the YBS website. Any other suggestions? Does not seem to be much on offer and I would prefer to avoid Park Xmas as they give you a voucher.
