Bond Fund
I'm considering the Mann Global Investment Grade Bond fund, managed by the highly regarded Jonathan Golam. It's a USD 5.6 bill fund containing 340 bonds that are a mix of government and corporates, the average duration is 5.6, the SD is 4.4 and the MS risk level is 33 - the yield to maturity is 6.7. These are short and…

Fixed Rate Bonds - confused by HMRC advice
Hello, after a conversation with HMRC, I am really confused about filing a tax return for interest earned on fixed rate bonds. I thought that I only needed to file information about interest accrued on fixed rate bonds in the year that the account matures and the interest becomes available. However, having received a late…

Any advice on which investment app to choose?
Hello all Over the last few months I’ve been doing lots of reading about investing to try and get a basic understanding of things. I’m now at a point where I’m about to open a Stocks & Shares ISA and start investing some money. Having looked at the websites of various investment apps I’ve narrowed it down to Vanguard,…

Marriage Allowance and Starter Rate
I have applied for marriage allowance for the first time this year, as I retired from work a few months ago and have only two very small pensions. For this current tax year my work / pension income will be around £10,000. I do however have savings interest in excess of £1000 and have benefitted from the "starter rate" in…

Large-ish transactions in Gilts / ILGs
I'm likely to be buying and selling some Gilts/ILGs soon. The amounts will be close to £100K type of thing. The platforms are Iweb & AJ Bell Is there likely to be much benefit pricewise in making as big a transaction as possible? As you can't see the settlement price on these I'm tempted to break them down into a few…

Bad experiences with Cynergy bank app
This is just a heads-up to anyone considering opening a Cynergy bank account (currently featured in the top Savings Accounts listings), to say you might want to check other users' experiences before doing so. In my case it ended in a frustrating, bad experience and me abandoning my newly-created account in favour of a…

Transfer Sipp from HL to Fidelity
I am thinking of transferring my SIPP from HL to Fidelity and take advantage of their cashback offer. I am assuming there will not be any exit fee to pay HL? Fidelity states that the cashback will be paid 90 days after 05.04.2026, so I can leave after the cashback has been paid should I wish to?

Multiple Regular Savers - maintenance
Hello, I've recently started my journey on getting multiple regular savers. I was wondering for a newbie (who is happy to be incredibly organised and can be), what would be the key information one would write down for each and every regular saver in their spreadsheet? (I tried searching the forums and I'm sure this has…

Index linked savings certs renewal
The perennial question of whether to renew a maturing certificate. I'm aware of the new being locked in for the whole 3/5 years aspect. You can get savings accounts with higher rates currently, even factoring in a 22% basic rate tax, but only just. I am a basic rate taxpayer. I know no one has a crystal ball, but I'd be…
