Submitting CV's to online websites (i.e. Reed)
I have heard that agency's before sending your CV and covering letter to firms remove your contact details - is this true? So if sending a CV through the Reed website should I just leave the details off? Also on Reed and some other sites you can upload your CV and allow recruiters to 'search' it - is it also better to…

Has anyone worked for Thera.co.uk ?
.... if so, what's it like? :) I'm thinking of applying for a job with them, as a support assistant for people with learning disabilities. What are they like to work for as a company? I've googled it, and searched on here, but can't find anything. Thanks in advance, if anyone knows anything about them

Job Application and going on holiday
I am applying for a job in the local school, where the closing date is next friday However I am going on holiday that day, only for a week, but I am conscious that the interviews will take place before the end of term as the job is to start in September. I'd just like some opinions on this - I work for a small company. We do have an employement consultant, but in this case my Managing Director has decided to overrule their advice. One of our employees booked a four week holiday to go with his fianceeto her home country in order to get her visa sorted in preparation for…

Best Degree Now?
As I'm struggling to get a job, I'm thinking about going to uni'. My interest lies in surveying or planning, but the industry is on it's knees. I'd be taking a huge risk by hoping that it will have picked up by the end of my degree. If it doesn't then I would pretty much be in the same situation that I am now. So, I've…

How to become a web designer?
Hello, I have a burning ambition to become a web designer, but not sure where to start. I don't want it to replace my main job, just be a part time interest. Are web designers two-a-penny, or are they difficult to find? What software packages are essential to learn? I saw one (private) course locally but it was £2,800! Can…

Is it worth chasing up, week after interview??
Hi folks As some of you know my hubby had an interview a week today. Although he was told they will not be starting up on the new section 2-3 weeks time as from last week, and they will be in touch before then, do you think he should sort of make contact? Over the months some interviews he went to never got…

I'm concerned my employer isn't paying my tax
I've been working for a small business for 5 years, my employer gave me some pay slips for the first couple of months but then stopped. The only time I've had a p60 was when I applied and got a mortgage for my house. Does anyone know of a way I can check that they are paying my tax out of my salary, preferably without…

Full time job - Full time student
Hi, I'm unsure about what tax I may or may not be exempt from paying. I am British, but I had not lived in the UK for 10 years when I returned here to begin a full time MA in September 09. As I was really struggling financially, I took a full time job in February (working in care, pays £7.50 per hour/39 hours a week). A…

Explaining pro rata Bank Holidays
Can anyone help me explain how this works in words of one syllable? I've got it clear in my own mind, but other staff are telling me they think I'm wrong ... 1. If I get offered the part time job I have applied for can I still carry on working for my present company? If I accept the new job and my current boss still wants me to do some work on a as and…
