17 year oil’s savings account
I set up a child’s account in their name with Halifax. When she turned 16 it was moved to regular savings account. Will it be taxed? I can still see it on my online backing, as I can see their younger sibling’s child account. Halifax should know her age. I’d hate for her to lose money if I could have avoided it.

Transfer into ii, etc
My platform is with ii, and I would like to know the 'correct' order for the following four tasks to ensure that one does not hold up the others. (I am not transferring any investment funds into ii, but I am selling part of my current S&S ISA and buying a different S&S ISA) TASKS 1.Transfer cash from a UK bank account into…

Shawbrook and 45 Day Notice transfer not made.
I have a Shawbrook 45 day notice savings account. Seven weeks ago I requested £20K to be transferred to my nominated account. Logging in to Shawbrook yesterday showed my balance was £20K lower and the transfer would go through that day. It didn’t and as I write this it’s still not showing. With a phone wait time of 35…

Transferring Shares to my Spouse
It seems sensible to transfer some of my shares to my spouse so we can sell them and each receive our own CGT allowance. My question is about how to transfer them. They are current held by Morgan Stanley in the US, they trade on the NYSE. Do I need to actually need to 'transfer' the shares anywhere or can I just document…

S&S ISA horribly imbalanced - What to do
I have been investing in a SS ISA since 2020. I have 30K in in along with 60K in cash savings. I am worried that my portfolio is horribly inbalanced and I am duplicating effort. I am happy with my returns since 2020 my average is just above 11 percent per year. I want a bit in bonds and equity. The idea of the bonds is to…

Saving interests and self assessment.
For the first time, I'm asked to file a self assessment by HMRC for the tax year 2024/2025. I believe the reason is my total interests went over 10000 due to the high interest rate then. I have gone through the form and as I am on PAYE, everything else looks straightforward apart from bank interests (I have no other…

Spooked by ongoing sharp decline in value of investments - should I cut my losses?
I started investing in early January. So far my only investment has been in a Stocks & Shares ISA. I bought shares in a well-known global index tracker ETF which has been recommended on MSE and elsewhere. I knew at the start that the value of investments can rise and fall, however I have been somewhat alarmed at how…

Best time to realise 2026/2027 CGT gains?
I have a GIA containing unwrapped investments of around £150K in HSBC Global Strategy Balanced INC that I want to get wrapped over time. I currently hold 63621 units with an average cost of 190p per unit. This is what's left after realising gains to fully use my 2025/26 ISA allowance. I assumed the optimal approach would…

Interest added monthly or annually.
Am I right in thinking that you get more interest if added monthly as the interest also earns interest. Rather than the interest added at the end of the year? Or am misreading that?

Skipton BS: Cash ISA Interest Capitalisation
Skipton BS: Cash ISA Capitalisation I have two cash ISAs with Skipton BS. The first was a 30-month F/R bond opened on 8 April 2024. Interest capitalised on 7April 2025. I had assumed that it would capitalise again tomorrow until I looked at my other Skipton ISA. The second ISA was opened on 7 April 2025 and the interest…

Transferring from GIA to ISA and CGT
Hi, I am preparing to move some money from my GIA to my ISA to make use of my £3,000 CGT allowance. I know that I can take any income for the sold units off the sale price as income tax has already been paid on this (previous years). My problem is that these are Acc units (VLS 40). Obviously there has been income…

Hodge Bank
My tesco fixed rate bond matures next week and the new rate offered is 4.2% for a year. I saw Hodge Bank on the MSE leader board offering 4.42% for a one year bond so I am thinking of moving my money to that rather than re-invest with Tesco Bank. I have read the comments on Hodge Bank previously posted on here but wanted…
